West Rangá Lodge in Hella

Best hotel i stayed at in Iceland! Great staff and super yummie breakfast. Me and my mum spent two nights at river hotel, i definitely can recommend to spend more time there then just sleeping time. Perfect location to start a lil walk from, spending time in the spa area (hot tub and sauna) or just reading a book while watching the fisherman standing in the river.

My wife and I stayed at West Ranga Lodge for a fishing trip, and we really enjoyed it. The location is perfect - right by the river and very peaceful. The lodge has a cosy feel and a lot of charm, and everything we needed was available. There was even a dedicated drying room for waders, which was super handy after a day on the water. It’s also possible to buy fishing equipment right at the lodge, which is a big plus if you forget something or need extra gear. The highlight for us was the food. The chef is fantastic, and every meal was delicious - really top quality! The room was fine for a fishing stay. The only downside was a faint old cigarette smell, likely from when smoking was allowed in the rooms. My wife wasn’t too happy about that, but it didn’t ruin the overall experience. All in all, we had a great time and would be happy to come back!

Had a lovely stay for two nights with my family of four. Hótel and room are spotless and beautifully decorated with a great view of the river in the back. Check in was very easy and Maria was very friendly. Beds are comfy and shower was good too. Breakfast buffet was ok, would have loved more options and we were informed upon check in that there was no dinner served which we were not aware of - it was not noted anywhere and after a long day and getting there late and then had to go back out and find somewhere to eat was disappointing. Other than that, lovely place to stay.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely hotel. Breakfast was delicious, but not automatically included. However, it was worth the price. The ladies running breakfast even gave us some containers to pack a lunch for our hike. My favorite part of the stay was sitting in the breakfast room and watching the fly-fishermen in the river right outside. It was a gorgeous view.

Lovely service and fishing

This is such a charming little hotel! Of all the places we stayed in Iceland this one stands out. We often talk about the fun we had here and will stay here again when we visit Iceland. This place will forever be near and dear to us. The breakfast was delicious and very worth it.
