Warning! Fraudsters! I used the services of this pseudo-hotel in July 2025. Upon arrival, instead of the four-person room we had paid for, we were given a double room. Two people had to sleep on the floor. No reception and no contact after checking into the room. No compensation and lies when we asked for a refund. Other guests received uncleaned rooms with dirty bedding. Despite this, the hotel continues to accept reservations on booking.com as Ocean Breeze Apartments.

Our reservation with booking was wrong and the room assigned to us was assigned to another guest. So I tried to call the host but nobody answered. So I tried with a sms message, Whatsapp message, booking chat and another call to all the numbers written at the reception desk. After 2 hours with no luck, booking finally assigned to us a new house! We heard similar problems to other guests too. The building seems old. I am happy to stay on another place for the night. Bad experience!

There is no one on site to answer problems: We turned up to find no key in the key safe but the door was not locked. Inside we found the room had not been cleaned. We tried to call the manager but no answer and you can't leave a message. Then we realised there was a alarm beeping and there was no electricity in the entire building. We booked another hotel but this one won't answer your calls or emails....

They had an ok kitchen but no cork screw, no colander. A really large bathroom but the sink was very, very small - so weird. Beds comfortable. Power went out for awhile but someone came and they were able to restore it. We had booked in error the day before and switched it but they refused to give us a refund for that night. It was 6 months before the visit so they totally could have sold it again. We were upset about that poor customer service.

The room was correct, the bed was comfortable, and the kitchen was basically equipped but enough for our needs. Now, to the downsides, the bathroom drainage was not working well, so the whole bathroom was flooded after a shower. What was even worse was the lack of warm water. In the kitchen, the cold water pressure was almost nonexistent, and the rest tasted to rotten eggs.

We do NOT recommend Ocean Beach Apartments. We had an awful experience. We made our reservation through our travel agency. Previously to our arrival we did not receive any information regarding the check time or procedure. We arrived after the check in time that as we mentioned previously we weren’t informed of. We called the emergency number and got the information that we had room 102 and 104. The lady gave us the code for 102 but no key on the locker, we got a key for 104. Then we procede to check the remaining rooms, we checked 114, also no key. That’s when the lady on the phone said something around the lines of “there’s not much I can do”. She then told us to try the locker of room 113 and there was a key, we thanked her and hung up. We went to check the rooms and realised that 113 was clean but 104 wasn’t. I called again, and as soon as I mentioned the room wasn’t clean, she hung up the phone on my face. I tried to calling 30 times. She never picked up the phone again. I also tried WhatsApp message and calling, no answer. She was ignoring us because she knew she messed up our reservation and didn’t wanted to put up with it. We considered looking for alternative accommodation but it was late and expensive, and we weren’t sure whether we would get our money back, so we decided to stay. We had to sleep all of us in room 113, which was clean. Two of us had to sleep on the floor. Additionally, the bathroom showers didn’t drained properly and flooded the bathroom. What initially seemed to be a very cozy and comfortable apartments, turned into a nightmare. When we left, we putted the keys at the checkout dropbox, which was broken and you could easily open it and get any of the keys inside and enter any of those rooms. So it wasn’t very safe either. We were almost at the end of our trip to Iceland, and this was a very upsetting, as we were having a smooth trip so far.

The location is great, near an area where the lava flow met the sea. The property looks a bit discouraging from the outside, considering surroundings as well. Inside it is refurbished, all good. The room was very clean, nice, with good amenities. The commmunication with hosts was only via messages, one message received with a code and room number. Good that we did not require anything ! The price was very good, so some issues are acceptable.

IF YOUR DON'T MIND SLEEPING IN A USED LINEN AND USE THE SOILED TOWELS ON THE FLOOR. I wondered if they had any staff, I had not seen one. I sent them an email, message and phone call with no reply. The check in instruction code was received after the check in time 4 pm.

The most incredible thing was that we checked in after 8:30 pm. The room was in a mass, the bed was with massy soiled linen, all dirty towels were on the floor of the bath room. We called the property number listed at booking
Com and the number that is listed outside the room if needed help. No one answer!

We called booking.com to seek help, the property did not answer their phone too! Booking.Com team supervisor, Joven asked us to wait for another 9 hours for them to clean the room or can refund to us. it was after 10 pm then! We were so tired, frustrated and felt helpless. I have been using booking.com for more than 10 years , end up without any help and support from them when needed. Disappointed!!

We had 4 bookings with Ocean Breeze Apartment, and had trouble in check in for the first 2 bookings. No tissue paper and bath towels for the first stay. Room was not made, bed was in a mess, soiled bath towels on the floor of the bath room.

After we complained to the booking.com, the property canceled our last booking in the last minute. Luckily, we found a very nice Acomodation with very nice service. That is a Bakki Apartment & Hostel. The unit is clean and tidy, the size of the room is much bigger with supply most of the kitchen facilities. Keep away from Ocean Breeze Apartment, it will spoil your holiday! Pictures were taken when we checked in Ocean Breeze Apartmment after 8:30 pm!

Somewhat disappointing
First, this place is not "on the beach" but about 400m away and you cannot see the sea. The first room provided had not been cleaned. Provided with a second room which was clean and bigger but hellishly hot and the window was nailed shut so we had to leave the room door open to try and remove the heat. Eventually found that the bathroom had underfloor heating but could find no way to switch it off. Asked how to do so but received no reply; seems the owners just turned it off because the room did cool down over three days. Owners not good at communicating at all. A toaster would have been useful.
