Very cozy nordic style hotel. This actually big hotel with sauna and hot tub. Breakfast also great.

We had a great stay at Stracta - the chalet style rooms were not a surprise as we looked through all photos on booking before choosing to stay. The only negative I can say is that the shower was really tight, the two doors don’t really work well. Other than that we had a great stay, the pull out bed for our daughter was far more comfortable than the one in others we’d stayed in. The staff were lovely...

Spent 2 nights in Stracta hotel during summer. We were given a room in the outdoor without shelter, so it was quite a hassle when it rained. Otherwise the room was pretty standard size, squeezy for 3 people, would be fine for 2. Didn't manage to try the hot tub as it was full with patrons. Do not forget the complimentary drinks, Cheers!

Beautiful hotel in a stunning surrounding. We stayed for 2 nights. Nicely decorated. Breakfast and dinner were good. However they charge fine dining prices which is too much and did not feel right. As there are no dining options nearby there isn’t really a choice.

Simple cottage with hot spring at the reception area. Kitchen was well equipped and managed to cook some food. However, heater in the room was not too strong. We were quite cold as the temperature dipped the night we were there. We managed to catch the aurora right from our room windows! That was only because the location was great and no light pollution around.

We saw the aurora borealis when we arrived. Make sure to arrive at this hotel early, as the front desk isn't open 24 hours. After watching the aurora for a while, we quickly checked in because the staff were about to leave. Before they leave, check if the heating is warm enough; if not, adjust the temperature while they're still there.

Wonderful place to stay! We were here for just one night and we all wish we had booked a longer stay! The cabins are so cute and have a terrific view! The staff was terrific and meals were great. They were happy to make special food items for our 5 year old. We are very much hoping to be back here again and stay longer to really take advantage of all Hestheimar has to offer!!

The people working for the place were kind and friendly. However the owner was insane. They keep reiceving the customers even though there was serious problem in the room 4, 5 and 6 where the floor heating was not working at all. You have to pay extra money to avoid the room 4, 5 and 6 otherwise just get the cold feet for the cold room.

The room was too hot and stuffy. The lobster bisque from the in-house restaurant was incredibly salty, and the hotel offered no compensation after we provided feedback.

The rooms were clean and the location was nice, but the rooms were a little dated looking. For the price I wasn’t too impressed with the quality of the rooms, and I thought breakfast was lackluster. Comparable to a low end hotel breakfast in the USA. Though there weren’t any big issues with the hotel, I probably would not stay there or recommend it.

Perfect location, where you can see the aurora all around the mountains. The room temperature is perfect and you can adjust it besides the window . They have a perfect balcony, which you can go straight outside and put your tripod on the grass and take pictures freely. There is no light influence at night so I can directly see the dark sky

I was a bit skeptical stopping at this hotel in the middle of nowhere on a gravel road, but this hotel was wonderful!! I saw the Northern Lights right outside the hotel, starting clearly at 8 PM! The hotel breakfast was excellent. Although the room wasn't huge, it was quite good for Iceland and very clean.

The facilities are clean. It was a comfortable stay for a family of three with a three-year-old. There's a waterfall nearby and about three restaurants. The breakfast, while not extensive, is delicious, so I highly recommend it if the price is right.

They initially arranged a room with two separate beds for us, but when we asked for a change, they quickly arranged another room. In that respect, I can say we were satisfied with the service. We could not been any happier with this hotel. It has matched our expectations. It has a beautiful setting and lovely staff. The grounds, especially the historic church, are well worth seeing. I was asked to use my credit card upon check-in, but upon check-out the next day, they charged me 40,000 kronor (the room fee had already been paid online). I only found out by checking my credit card statement. I contacted Ctrip customer service, and the hotel claimed it was a fine for smoking, but I hadn't smoked at all. The room was clean and well-insulated, with good heating. The shower and toilet were separate, and there was even a clothes dryer, which was very satisfactory. Decent place overall. Hotel was located alongside the main road and easily accessible. Check in process was relatively smooth. Room was visibly clean, beds were comfortable and blackout curtains and radiator were effective. Breakfast was slightly disappointing as it was mostly a cold continental one with no hot food options. This is a magical place. It is hard to get to, especially during a snowstorm, so be aware. Make sure to get an AWD or 4x4 vehicle. Other than that, communication with the staff/property manager/owner was great and they are very helpful. We had a great time!
