We were walking around Matera and stumbled across the bar. Since it was aperitivo time, my husband and I asked to sit down on one of the four UNRESERVED tables available. The waiter turned us down because, allegedly, the tables were for four people. A real shambles for a place like Matera that lives on tourists! I DO NOT recommend it.

Location, PERFECT!. Hotel, lovely, host very friendly and helpful
BUT: No buffet breakfast as advertised, Sink blocked, tissue run out first day, and it was cold

Nice place in the center of the old town. A couple of maintenance issues that were brought to light but no effort to fix them. Our host was super nice and met us at the bus stop to take us to the property.

Domenico was very friendly and we liked Matera a lot! We spend two nights and we had to ask more toilet paper because nobody didn’t come to check if there was enough. Nobody cleaned the room while we stayed there.

The property is in a great location on the edge of the historic old town with views just outside of the valley and caves as well as the historic church of San Pietro Caveoso with the Casa Grotta. Breakfast was very good also. Just bear in mind that the property is in the city restricted zone so we had to park around 0.5 miles away and walk with our bags - would have been good if the property description mentioned this as well as pointing out where you can park. Maters is a fantastic little place - thoroughly recommend a visit.

We saw the host the day we were leaving. He didn't even ask how we had been. He gave us pizza for breakfast two days in a row. They didn't clean our room. They didn't even give us toilet paper. They didn't tell us how to get to the hotel without getting a parking ticket. They store food next to cleaning products and in a bathroom. Absolutely shameful.
