The location is good, and the rooms are spacious enough. However, the room's decor is a bit dark, making it feel rather gloomy. The breakfast service is somewhat inferior to that of a 5-star hotel, but everything else is quite good.
This stay was absolutely fantastic, deserving a full five-star review! First of all, the hotel's facilities were a pleasant surprise. The rooms were incredibly spacious, the largest standard rooms we've seen during our European trip, unlike some cramped rooms in European hotels. All the facilities were new and spotlessly clean, making for a very comfortable and reassuring stay. We booked three rooms...
Very close to attractions, within walking distance. Convenient parking. Delicious breakfast.
The location of the facility is good, but the service and breakfast are a mess.
The room is very large, the bed is very comfortable, the breakfast is fresh and rich, the hotel service staff is polite and thoughtful, it is very close to important attractions, and the location is excellent
An excellent hotel near the old town. Got a free upgrade. Super clean and big room. The service is spectacular!

Interesting and beautiful hotel. Good breakfast. Location is very good for walking, sightseeing.
Living inside the cave feeling so wonderful, but car cannot go in
This was an amazing place to stay in the heart of the Sassi. The breakfast was very nice with many options and the dinner we had there was equally good. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The shower was the nicest we had on our two week trip. Appreciated a safe available in the room.
We opted for the cave room! The room is very well appointed. It features a French window and small windows in the bathroom. The pool is amazing. We had a car, which we parked without any issues via Lucana.
Steer clear of the smallest room type – it has no windows and was quite musty. Upgrading to a suite, however, was a complete game-changer! The service was exceptional; they catered to our every need. The hotel's location is unbeatable.
The room was absolutely fantastic – very spacious and spotlessly clean. The AC was powerful and kept us comfortable. Hotel service was top-notch, breakfast was delicious, and the dinner chef was superb. The spa facilities were also excellent; just remember to bring your swimwear! Honestly, everything about our stay was perfect.

Clean room, nice hotel. Staff was very nice even when very busy. All in all a good stay. Secure parking. Nothing to look at or walk to around here though.
Beautiful hotel. Room is spacious and the cleanest amongst the 4 hotels of similar level we stayed during this trip. Dinner at the hotel was excellent, the beef entree looked unimpressive but surprisingly it was well seasoned and cooked to perfection served piping hot. Breakfast could be better with more varieties. The only issue is if you want to exchange your towel the answer is a rude “no” which...
Definitely worth the visit. Great property with fabulous amenities. Incredible gym. Beautiful large oool. Comfy bed. Just abit noisy cause of thin walls but not that bad. Great value.
New and well equipped hotel, with spa, breakfast and lot of facility Good parking But all are extra-charge Room is nice, cozy and clean but so hot. Couldn’t control the heath from room and iI was awaken in the middle of night because of to much heat I book the hotel especial for spa but Suprise .., is with extra charge. Modern hotel. But without **** treatment. The staff had the cordiality and friendliness of the barracks from ex communist states. We really didn't feel welcome... No smile or friendly word at breakfast. We were here in autumn so the outdoor pool was closed. We had to pay 30 euros for the indoor pool and wellness (90 min), which we didn't. The first time we experienced this. NOT RECOMMENDED if you want...
We took 17 of our customers on a Southern Italy trip. We stayed in four hotels through out our trip, this was our least favorite. Here are dome of the reasons why: -Place looked a little disheveled. We believe the building and grounds were under construction and the hotel did the best they could to hide it. -The bar tender our first night had a limited menu on the drinks he could create. We had a great stay, all the staff were very polite and attentive, answered all our questions about the area and also very informative about the food and wines they were serving, we were very pleasantly with the service the location and the condition of the hotel, unfortunately we were not there long enough to sample the spa but did get a tour from the young lady at the spas reception who explained...
Clean room excellent staff and service. Good options for breakfast
Clean spacious room with luxurious bathrooms. Staff were kind, knowledgeable and helpful. Wonderful property in the heart of Matera
Best in Matera! Great rooms with good services.
Staff at the hotel were great. We stayed 2 nights and it was very hot. Unfortunately the air con can’t cool the old building when it is this hot. So room was quite warm. Staff provided fans. Also jacuzzi pool is not complementary. Lovely old building though, easy to find etc.
The property was lovely and great location. Staff were exemplary. Two areas for improvement - the wifi connection was inconsistent and not easy to connect to. Also we believed there was an outdoor pool based on the website description and were disappointed to learn it was only for the suite.

This was our first time to Matera and it was amazing! The hotel is located near the iconic rock church Santa Maria di Idris. Our room had a patio with views of that church. The hotel is also located a short walk from the entrance to the hike to Belvedere Murgia Timone - a must do for those who can handle a one hour hike (one way). There were also a number of excellent restaurants nearby. We were not...
Nice hotel, staff very very friendly and helpful! Applause for the guy bringing up all our luggage! The view is gorgeous and the hotel is perfectly located. The breakfast is not much but tasted ok. Don’t think you should ask more money for dishes which can be ordered. Just include everything. Rooms were not very clean and our shower was very small and overall we couldn’t get the room to be colder....
Beautiful hotel and rooms! We really had a nice time in Matera and the rooms in the cave.
Room was fascinating. Location was great. We have mobility issues so they arranged a tour of Matera for us in an Apecar (Tuktuk) The service was either great (picking us up at the garage) to poor (not answering the phone at check-out time, telling me after I carried my own luggage 500 feet down 20 rough stone steps that there was another desk to call, not telling us we'd have to climb 50 of stone steps...
Stayed just two days here, the views are amazing!! Matera is beautiful. The A/C was poor at best, the shower very small. Could not get a table at the restaurant, unfortunately. Breakfast was great.
One of the best places to stay in Matera. Great service with parking. Restaurant Regina Corte is a must do. Dinner was excellent and the view is amazing. Location: the best! Rooms are a good size and beautiful decorated in modern style.

We had the most beautiful stay here at the Albergo Italia, Matera. Perfect location, right in the middle of everything. Our room had an amazing balcony and was very spacious. The only downside was that the WiFi in that room was not working while we were there, but the issue should be fixed now.

Basiliani Hotel is truly a fantastic boutique gem! The location is perfect — close to everything yet peaceful enough to fully relax and soak in the atmosphere. Wonderful hotel in a great location in Matera. Each room was different and wonderful (we had four rooms). The staff was great and the transfers to/from the parking garage were perfect. We would absolutely stay here again!
Was unable to partake in breakfast. Most of the staff was very nice and helpful except the man (or shuttle driver) when we arrived that nite. I don’t appreciate being yelled at by staff at a hotel I paid for. Was not very understanding and rude.
It’s ok hotel for fit people but several areas of mold in the bathrooms ( we had friends in another room- same mold) is unacceptable! Extremely dangerous step down at the bathroom entrance- waiting for accident to happen! Great breakfast!
We were knocked out by the comtempory feel and stylish interior to what is simply a cave. It was fresh and perfect. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. Even the lovely lady at breakfast remembered what we liked to drink with our breakfast.

This was my second visit to Le Dodici Luna and we thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality of the staff and the lovely, spacious room. I highly recommend this hotel if you visit Matera. I also think it is worth staying at least two nights so you have time to see everything. The included breakfast is great and includes homemade yogurt.
The courtyard is charming and we were greeted warmly. During check in we were given a quick orientation of the old city with a map. Our room was comfortable and, as were were there during some clear November days, we did not experience dampness. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful.
WOW, Matera is a very unique place! To appreciate it, you need to walk lots of stairs up and down but its history and beauty are worth it! Most of the city is pedestrian with many important historical places to visit, like antic churches and museums. Really lovely family room for the five of us, situated in a tranquil part of the old town. Very helpful and welcoming staff and delicious homemade breakfast. Touristic recommendations were great too. Luggage Looking forward to going back again.
When we first arrived to Le Dodici Lune we could not believe out eyes. The hotel is built into old caves in Stassi Caveoso and is a truly remarkable place. Excellent value for money room, perfect location for visiting Sassi. Comfortable bed, clean bathroom and nice breafast. Check in and communication was fast and efficient!

It was three beautiful Jordanians. Matera and the Murgia is unique and the position of the apartment practically in the stones allows you to live it in full day and night. The property is not properly finished. Although the staff were very helpful & bedrooms were good, it wasn't within walking distance of any restaurants as the surrounding area is undeveloped. However, there were buses into the centre about 7 or 8 minutes walk.
Chose this hotel because it is close to the bus stop where we took a bus out of Matera. Hence we had to walk about 20 minutes to reach Matera square. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful. We had all meals there and managed to cover all viewpoints planned.
Staff were very friendly and was easy to access most of the places by foot.
Overall, the stay went well, although the mattress wasn't the best and, more importantly, there were no extra pillows. This resulted in back pain and a stiff neck.
The drop down menu did not offer our dates. We stayed here in October 2019 - but I lost me sign on/password so only writing review now. We had the most amazing time celebrating love ! Truly magical experience, the service is impeccable and the location couldn’t be more breathetaking. Thank you so much
What an amazing place! Fantastic that the history of the area including the building has been so beautifully preserved. Congratulations to those responsible. A must stay on your travels to Matera!
The hotel service is very good, everyone is very enthusiastic, the environment is great, the scenery is also good, we paid extra to upgrade to the largest cave room, it was like living in nature, very warm with floor heating, the room was super quiet, the bath water was big and hot, the restaurant was beautiful, there was tea to drink, it was the best night's sleep we had.
Great place to experience the magic of Matera. Very nice breakfast in a large and atmospheric cave room. The cave rooms are cosy in early spring and definitely an experience. We opted in for the guided tour of Sassi which ended up being a highlight of our trip (many thanks to Alessio L).

I've almost forgotten, it should be in Matura, a nice city. The hotel was good except for the price-performance ratio; the bathroom was huge, but the air conditioning was a bit insufficient. The bathroom and room were on different levels, probably due to the terrain.
My flight was delayed and my check-in time was in the middle of the night, but they waited for me. Of course, I had contacted them on the way there to let them know that I would be delayed. They were also very friendly and even carried my luggage for me. Thank you very much.
The best hotel I have visit for this trip. All staffs are friendly and helpful. Easiest way to reach hotel is to go to Matera Centrale via ferrovie train from Bari Centrale. Than a bus near the train station will fetch you the doorstep. Very efficient location.
