Hotel Sonia in Trieste

They asked us 100 euros for a problem in a room, which was not caused by us. We even communicated the issue. Very unfair: I would even say that it was done expressly, i.e. on purpose.

The room was as large as the bed; breakfast tables piled high with crumbs and leftovers of all kinds... but above all, an insurmountable maze of corridors, stairs, and elevators to get to your room and, even worse, to get out! Paid parking for two-wheeled vehicles, but nonexistent for four-wheeled vehicles or more.

From the photos it looks nice, but only from the photos inside it looks like a barracks: bare rooms with marked and dirty walls, no closet, small bedroom, bathroom without a toilet paper holder, and for toiletries, a 10g bar of soap and two 10ml sachets of shower gel... We asked for two extra pillows in the afternoon because the pillows provided are practically non-existent, and they responded at 12:30 by calling them back, after realizing that they hadn't brought us the pillows, that they had no more, that they were out of pillows... Crazy stuff!!! A three-star hotel, in a three-stables I'd say... 15 euros per person for breakfast, 30 euros per day for parking... A hotel to forget!!!! Never again...

The hotel's location is inconvenient for reaching Trieste's city center and the convention center. Management is inattentive to guest needs, and the staff is inadequate. Breakfast is inadequate for the price.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights for work. It was a very negative experience: the first room I was assigned had a dirty toilet despite the toilet hygiene strip. I therefore requested and was granted a change of room. The entry card didn't work in the second room (they had to open it with the key, which they didn't give me), and I was only given a working card the following day. The television didn't work in either room. The walls were dirty and peeling. The cleaning staff spoke loudly in the mornings. They charged €30 for parking and €15 for breakfast (very high prices for a 3-star hotel located on the outskirts of Trieste). Overall, a very negative experience.

I am giving one star, just because they have the will to try to make some changes with the interior. All other parameters are zero. To find the number of your room, you will need guidance. It is mostly like to be a labyrint. We returned back to the front desk twice, asking Mrs. Marina for some support, but she was too lazy, so just waved with hands and her guidance stopped to "turn left to the corridor and take the elevator". Which we did and met another lost couple with suitcases searching for their room, too. Although they were Italian they received the same unpolite attitude from Mrs. Marina. I have never see such are complicated situation. Finally, we met one waitress and she guide us to the rooms, which was difficult for her too. When we open the door the very first impression was the nasty smell of the toilet...
In adition, Mrs Marina from the front desk, asked me for 20 Euro for parking spot, whether it was matter of dead time between 22:00PM till 05:00AM. After all there was no chance to pay her this money.
We will Never ever visit this hotel, again.

Thank you very much for your reply, but it is not quite correct. First of all, my discount came from the fact, that the prices in Booking.com were 35% lower from the very first price, that you gave me via my telephone call. Secondly, you were announced for our late check in which was after 21:30PM and till we were wandering to find our rooms into your corridors and elevators it passed 22:00PM. Due to the restriction measures of the Italian authorities for forbidden movement on the streets between 22:00PM-05:00AM, what did you do?. You pointed the street and said go and park on free premises. Although I asked you several times for your permission and mostly understanding to let me into parking area of the hotel. Your answer was, that it is full, there are no free parking spots, although I warned you, that we will leave the hotel 05:00AM and you always can check who payed for the breakfast, respectively we could park in front of his car without bothering his free movements. But, there has to be a will for this from your side. Anyway, following your advise, I went out with my car from your so precious reception area on the street and start looking for parking spot and 200 meters away I met one police car. It was nearly 22:30PM and maybe my luck not be stopped was the fact, that I am driving a car with foreign plate. By the way, we are owners of the hotel on the Black sea and please do not talk to me like you did some special favor or discounts. We will never leave our guests in situation like this, especially foreigners who do not know the local rules or have enough orientation late in the night. And if I continue my correspondence with you is only the fact that I have over 800 comments, which are helpful for the travelers to prevent them from my mistakes.
