Fortino Napoleonico in Ancona

Great and unique place to stay, great terrace to sit and enjoy the Sea and a drink.

This is a nice property but not as nice as it was when we were here 6 years ago. It is built within a historic fort and it is a pretty special place. When we were here last there were little things that were no longer there like robes in the room. They have a beautiful restaurant and we had dinner there the last time that we were there. This time although we had made reservations we found that they were serving on one of the upper decks and not in the restaurant. I don't know if that's because they don't have cooling in the restaurant or why they chose to do that but sitting on a bland patio with very few decorations just wasn't my cup of tea. We wound up eating somewhere else. There have been a number of comments about The breakfast and I found it quite expansive but unfortunately the items that should be hot like the eggs for ice cold. I guess I don't have the same special feeling that I did last time that we were there. This time through Italy we made it a point to go out of our way to spend the night there. I don't think I would do it again.

Impeccable service, such accommodating staff! I’m vegetarian, and despite the restaurant menu being entirely seafood, the staff made such an effort to provide me with a variety of options for every meal. Beautiful and remote area

A beautiful fort-hotel in a stunning setting by the sea, which is accessible via a rock and pebble shore. Rooms were nice, although lacking any drinking water or proper coffee facilities (just some instant coffee!) and no milk. Water costs €5 a bottle and you will need lots of it in the heat. They really should provide complimentary bottles every day. All the staff were really lovely, but the breakfast selection was quite poor. Most of the lunch and dinner options were overpriced, but the food was good. The sea is tricky for children when there are waves, but easier when calm. Handy to have sea shoes. Lovely pool and sun beds. Not too busy when we went. 30 mins from the airport, so handy to stay when first arriving, and quite relaxing. But hard to justify for the price.

A unique place in every way, both because of the historical location on the seafront and because of the dishes offered on the menu, with balanced taste and very carefully prepared in the dish. Particularly as a celiac patient, I really enjoyed the wide selection of gluten free options listed on the menu. We had dinner on the terrace, with pleasant background music and the romantic sound of sea waves. What can I say...everything conveys elegance, moderation and professionalism. The staff is very kind and always attentive to the needs of the customers, the food is really good, go and taste with all your senses!

A wonderful place with a unique and mesmerizing charm that leaves you with a magical aura of history and sea battles of past centuries. The view from the top is amazing and stands out to the turquoise sea with aquamarine facets that has something to inspire the senses. It is impossible to find a malfunction that exists from the reception to other services: they are all top notch.

Perfect place to enjoy a few days off. Matteo at the pool bar makes the stay real great and adds to the atmosphere. Food is amazing and the staff is very friendly and evenings are wonderful with live piano on the pleasant piazza in the center of the Fortino.
