Completely exceeded my expectations! This hotel is top-notch, probably the best in the area. I checked in on a weekend and was upgraded to a sea-view room, with two beds no less! The hotel is right next to the pier, so the location is excellent. The facilities and cleanliness are also quite good. However, compared to other hotels in Shikoku, there's definitely room for improvement with the breakfast.

I was very satisfied with this hotel. The room wasn't large, but it was still comfortable. Each floor had an ice machine and a massage chair. The breakfast was mediocre and quite expensive, so I wouldn't recommend it.

The room was clean and tidy, and the stay was quite comfortable. The view was also great. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. For breakfast, you can find a window seat and enjoy delicious food while taking in the outside scenery. It was a very pleasant travel and vacation spot.

The servicev of this hotel is unspeakable. I was there with a friend for the Shimanami Kaido, but Got a nerve trapped and had to rest. I booked a single Room for a night but later decided I needed 2 nights for recovery. I had to change Room from a double to a single Room - and the reception made it clear to me that I had booked for 3 nights 1 + 2 nights - not alterer the original booking from 1 to...

Good location, less than 1km from Onomichi Station. For those arriving by Shinkansen, the hotel is about 4km from Shin-Onomichi Station. Excellent Japanese breakfast. Only downside: the bed is a bit small.

1. I booked two rooms at this hotel for two nights. My reservation specified an ocean view room, but the room I stayed in had no ocean view at all and was located on the opposite side of the ocean view room. It wasn't until I checked out that I realized the opposite room was actually an ocean view room with a direct view of the ocean. I'm very curious as to whether this arrangement was intentional...

The location right in front of the ocean was fantastic, and the view from the room was absolutely beautiful. The room itself was comfortable, and the staff who assisted us at breakfast were very polite and helpful. The food was also delicious, made with local ingredients.

Hotel is around 15 min walk from Onomichi station. Receptionist is helpful but do not understand English. The room is clean but very small... barely enough room to open my luggage. Hotel is already quite expensive considering that it is not in the main city and doesn't include breakfast and has few amenties

We have had a great stay at Onomichi Royal hotel. The hotel has clearly just been renovated - everything is super new and in a great state. We've had both dinner and breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel, which has been delicious. We used the hotel as the start and end point of our 2-day Shimanami Kaido cycling tour. The staff were pleasant. The room was down a dark alley and tricky to find. In a separate building two blocks from the main accommodations. There was a septic smell which took four hours to disappear! The room was unfinished plywood, difficult to figure out the heating system. Not impressed!

We have just had a great 3 night stay at Soil Setoda a d we loved it. We cycled the Shimanami Kaido and based ourselves in Setoda. The staff were so lovely. Food excellent. Loved our room. It has a lovely simple design edge that we liked. We even purchased some great local pottery. Highly recommend

I would highly recommend anyone doing the shimanami kaido to stay here! It does make for a longer second day to complete the bike ride as it’s before the official halfway point but the hotel it self it absolutely stunning with the onsen we throughly enjoyed everything about this hotel.

It was a great place, with a traditional public bath and plenty of space to enjoy the townscape of Ikuchijima! I'd love to go again!

Location is its biggest advantage- walking distance from Onomichi railway station. Rooms are on the smaller side but have everything you need. The hotel is quite old but clean and well maintained. Note the entrance to the hotel have 6-7 stair steps and you will need to haul luggage up through those steps. Walking distance to plenty of eating places.

Good lactation just near the railway station and the ferry terminal with nice breakfast

The location is good. Not far from restaurants and river. But the hotel lack of public room or place for group of people sit down and relax. Receptionist are not so helpful.

The hotel is quite old and it shows. The equipment in the rooms was a bit run down and the shower curtain was smelly. The staff was very friendly though and the location is quite convenient.

The room rate was quite high, but the hotel room was comfortable and clean. From Onomichi JR Station, walk right and have Onomichi Ramen at the station shop for 850 yen. Then, find a map and head to the hotel. The next morning, after a can of coffee, I visited Senkoji Park, making every moment count. The hotel's prime location made the above itinerary even more convenient.

I booked a room in the main building with a bathroom and toilet, but ended up with a room in the annex without a toilet or bath. What a shame.

Driving is very convenient, with free parking available (though it's quite popular with day-trippers, so if it's full, you'll have to wait until the day-trippers leave before a spot becomes available). Free private baths are available. The hotel has an indoor private bath that can be reserved for free. We arrived at 6 PM and successfully booked it for 10 PM. It's small, but perfect for a couple. Free parking is available. It's about a 15-minute drive from Onomichi and Higashi-Onomichi downtown areas. The front desk staff speaks English.

I stayed at this lodging on the outskirts of Onomichi, which has a day spa. I needed a Japanese-style room during the Obon holidays. It was a little far from the city center, and the toilet and bathroom were shared, but the hot spring had a restaurant attached, and the food was delicious, which was very helpful. Great design, cozy rooms, a bit chilly in the bathroom because we were there in January. The windows overlooked the harbor, and ships sailed by in the morning, very beautiful. With the sea right in front of you, it was a great location where you could really feel Onomichi. However, we stayed on a rainy day, so it was a bit of a challenge, even though it wasn't far from the station.
