Mihokan in Yonago

Really kind and helpful family place - Always keen to help you explore the area around and give advice on what to do and how to relax during your time there. Free to use fishing rods mean you can do some pre-dinner squid fishing in the harbour, and the view from the 7th floor hot water spa is great. Not too far from Matsue and the old original Ryokan, where you don't stay, is a beautiful setting for breakfast. Great Atmosphere both in the Ryokan and around the town.

Both the inn and the town itself were very comfortable.
Dinner was served in our room and was delicious with just the right amount of food.
The old building, where breakfast was served the next morning, gave us a real sense of history. After dinner, we were able to have a drink in the old building, and the subdued lighting created a nostalgic atmosphere.

We stayed on November 22, 2024. After visiting Matsue Castle, we took a bus and arrived just after 6pm. We stayed in the new building and enjoyed a Matsuba crab course for dinner. 2.5 crabs per person felt like we'd eaten our last 10 years' worth of crab all at once. It was delicious. The bath was on the top floor, so we could enjoy a view of the ocean. However, at night it was pitch black except for the lights on the opposite shore. We also took a bath in the morning, and the view was lovely and it was a pleasant experience. The next morning we had breakfast in the main building, a registered tangible cultural property. Not only was the atmosphere wonderful, but the food was also delicious, and we ended up eating too much.

This inn is located right in front of the fishing port. It feels like a small village, with several inns lined up, and is large enough to overlook the entire village. It features a blue-tatami alleyway, making it one of the area's tourist attractions. It's a charming street lined with historic buildings. The buildings are well-maintained, with wood used in appropriate places, creating a cozy atmosphere. The rooms are clean, and offer a beautiful view—perhaps an ocean view, or perhaps a harbor view. Across the water, you can see the streets of Yonago and Mt. Daisen. The food seems to have been well-done, with a gorgeous-looking boiled sea bream head. The sashimi is also good. The breakfast is delicious and highly recommended. The breakfast venue is in the main building, a designated cultural property, and you can enjoy a moment in a beautiful building that you won't find anywhere else. Highly recommended.

Overall it's pretty good, even though it's just for a night's sleep. The service is top-notch and the scenery is beautiful.

Second time staying - as fantastic as always. Great family run place with good food caught fresh every morning from the port. Strong recommendation!
