We stayed in the en suite room . It was clean and comfortable. As others have described definitely a hostel but very well maintained and nicely furnished. The host could not have been nicer or kinder and was extremely helpful. Explaining a lot, helped us book restaurants. We felt close to the art houses and the hill was good exercise for my heart. End of October and it was quiet. Highly recommended for those who accept hostel accommodation. Good restaurant near by

Our stay at Bamboo Village was truly special. Johnny, the owner, warmly welcomed us, went above and beyond to make sure we felt at home, and generously helped us find accommodation elsewhere on Naoshima. The rooms were cozy, the atmosphere peaceful, and Johnny’s hospitality made our stay unforgettable. Highly recommend!

There is a lot to like about Bamboo Village guest house - including the excellent personalised customer service. Great location if you don't mind walking a hill. Lovely outlook. I had a room with ensuite.
Decide if privacy & possible noise are an issue before booking. It is essentially a share house.
Unfortunately there was a noisy (but nice) group of people staying. All guest rooms adjoin the common areas - sitting, kitchen and bathrooms - so there is no escaping noise when people congregate in those areas. My room door opened onto the kitchen area - so it was particularly noisy.
Beds were squeeky. No bottom cotton sheet.
I think for those who are used to sharing common spaces and who like being social they will love this place!

Nice place on a hill, just a 10-12 min walk from the passenger boat pier on the Honmura side of Naoshima. Friendly manager "Johnny." Interior is nicer than the pix suggest. Really enjoyed meeting fellow guests by serendipity on the Uno port side (20 min across the water). Tip: If arriving after 6 pm, consider bringing snacks such as yogurt, nuts, etc. as the 7-11 is on the other side of the small island and may close early. Also if you're spending 2 nights, you may wish to rent an electric bike from Johnny.

Really a nice house, you can do everything on foot, the host was really friendly, he sent a car to pick me up from the port as I arrived at night and then the next day it was a good starting point to explore the island . I highly recommend

The room is quite large and the overall layout is very warm. However, I don’t know whether it was because of the deodorizing spray or the smell from previous visitors. As soon as I entered the room, there was an indescribable strange smell ~ The location is halfway up the mountain, so if you are riding a bicycle, you will get there There will be a steep slope at the destination that needs to be pushed up, which is very strenuous. Other facilities are not bad. You can experience the many works of art under the night on the island. There are also many stars.

More of a hostel or AirBnB than a hotel. Attracting young people who want to stay on the beautiful artsy island of Naoshima for a while. We shared a room as a family aged 45 to 70. Felt a little out of place, especially as we shared the showers/bathrooms with young students. But the location is great (once you have carried your luggage up the hill) and the view is nice, too. Friendly, hip interior design.

One the best guesthouses we have ever stayed. We have travelled much of Europe and still this one was the best! In terms of, how clean the shower, general area, and bed, the place was excellent! The hosts are very welcoming and polite. I would stay here again. If you do go here TURN RIGHT at the parking lot. Look for the small GREEN signs directing you. You may not recognize at first, but there are signs. Overall, a great experience and wonderful accommodations.
