Guest House Kagan in Toktogul

We stopped in this town on our journey from Bishkek to Osh to break up the trip. There isn't a great deal to do here, but it's a pleasant place for a stopover. You can go hiking or visit the nearby lake, which is clean and suitable for swimming.

This inn is an excellent place to stay. The room was a comfortable, cozy size, and there was a TV room, outdoor seating, and bicycles available to hire. We cycled the 6 km to the lake, which was a great way to explore the area.

The Wi-Fi was reliable, and there was plenty of hot water with good pressure. Guests also have access to a shared kitchen, although an additional fridge-freezer would be a useful improvement.

The owner was very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was basic but plentiful and set us up well for the day.

I'd happily stay here again and would definitely recommend it.

Had a wonderful stay at this guest house. Friendly and very helpful family. Rooms were comfortable. Beds may need to be replaced though. Too squeaky and bouncy.

We stayed in a double room with bathroom ensuite without AC, for 1,000 som per person including breakfast, and dinner was optional for 450 som per person. Wifi worked at the fining area, but not in the room.
The room looked newly renovated, was clean and had a enough space.
The shower was hot and the water pressure was good enough.
The owner family was nice and friendly. The young man spoke English.
Their food was delicious and had a good portion.
The hot water to drink was available all day with coffee powder and tea.
We took a mashrutka to Bishkek next morning. The mashrutka stand is just 800 meters away from their place.

Plus: The guesthouse is located in a quiet street. Spacious room on the ground floor with three beds, in which we stayed with two people. Separate bathroom with private toilet. Everything was neat and clean. Next to the old part of the building, in which we stayed, a completely new building is being built. During our stay (end of June) the rooms on the ground floor were already in use. There was still plenty of sawing and drilling going on on the first floor. The main street with some restaurants and a large square are about a 5 minute walk away. Good Wi-Fi. The breakfast in a separate room, with the other guests, was fine. Minus: Despite open windows, it cooled down slowly at night, making the room quite warm. The beds have a high raised edge at the end. If you are taller, you will not fit well in the bed. The beds creak annoyingly with every movement; it would be good if something was done about that.

Very friendly and helpful people. Inside parking gave us a peace of mind. Cool rooms in June with comfortable beds let us rest after a long trip. Nice breakfast. I liked the apricot jam!

Used Kagan as a car rental. The car was pretty good for the fair asking price. They were also able to take care of the permits and everything. We had a couple of times where we wished they were more helpful but overall there was nothing to complain about. 5 stars because I would rent from them again when I come back to Kyrgyzstan.
