We had a wonderful experience at Hotel Star Shell. Despite arriving close to midnight, the hotel thoughtfully arranged a late airport transfer for us at a very reasonable rate, which was greatly appreciated after a long journey.
The hotel’s close proximity to the airport makes it extremely convenient, and the rooms were spacious, comfortable, and spotlessly clean.
A special shout-out to Mr. Abdul Gofran for his exceptional service. When my daughter accidentally left her jacket at the hotel, he personally came to the airport not once, but twice—due to a miscommunication about the meeting time—to ensure it was safely returned to us. This level of dedication and kindness truly stood out.
Highly recommended for travelers looking for comfort, convenience, and genuinely caring service in Malé.

Very disappointing and frustrating experience.
Yesterday, my girlfriend and I booked a room at Hotel Starshell, Hulhumalé’. Upon arrival, we were told that unmarried couples are not allowed, which was not clearly mentioned during booking.
On top of that, the receptionist was extremely rude and unprofessional. Instead of handling the situation properly, they refused to refund our booking and tried to pressure us into booking another room, clearly attempting to get more money from us despite it being their policy issue.
This behavior felt unfair, dishonest, and very disrespectful. If such policies exist, they should be clearly communicated in advance, and staff should treat guests with basic courtesy and professionalism.
Overall, a very bad experience. I would strongly not recommend this hotel.

I booked Star Shell for very first time as a resident who working and living in Maldives via trip.com. Price is reasonable.
The check in was quick and simple. Staff were very helpful. The room is lovely. However, if you are sensitive to the noise then I am not recommended, because you can hear the car noise from road. My room got lonely view far from sea and shade from tree.
Very basic amenities provided as dental kit, bath amenities attached in bathroom.
I wish to extend my stay directly with property as my bf able to fly to see me after his work, but as per property rules if you don’t have marriage certificate then it won’t be allowed to proceed. I understand, but nothing was mentioned so I won’t recommend to any expats in the Maldives.
Overall just okay for transit night before fly out or to go other island.

Near to the beach.
Room is acceptable, but toilet a bit small. Bad sound insolution, you can hear the voice from street clearly.

I will give 0 star if i can. The first thing i saw entering the room was a cockroach... and that's the least of the problem.
The building / room must have some drainage issue that having the awful smell coming from the bathroom and it is terrible to a point that is affecting my sleep. Then it is located next to the busy road with zero sound proofing, it is like sleeping on the street. minimal choice to the breakfast selection which you can just skip. Avoid at all cost.

Everything was great during my stay – the service, cleanliness, and location were all excellent. However, I did have an issue with the bed. The sheets or bedding felt a bit rough and caused some discomfort, almost like a scratching sensation on my skin. It would be great if this could be looked into for future guests. Thank you!
