Description

Coconut Tree Hulhuvilla Beach is a modest 3-star hotel located on Hulhumale Island, offering 12 rooms across a 3-floor building. Its appeal lies in its proximity to a public sandy beach just 15 meters away, providing first-line beachfront access. The hotel features several room types, including Comfort Double, Superior Triple, and Deluxe Triple Family rooms, all equipped with air conditioning and basic amenities such as WiFi and 24-hour security. Guests can enjoy local cuisine at the on-site restaurant, and facilities include a terrace, garden, and shared lounge. Despite its convenient location and warm service, some reviews point to noise issues, occasional maintenance concerns, and communication problems, especially regarding airport transfers and check-out coordination. Breakfast is offered daily but is simple and charged separately. Overall, it’s a budget-friendly option close to the beach but with mixed guest experiences.

The hotel is situated on Hulhumale Island, approximately 3 kilometers from Malé International Airport (MLE), making transfers relatively short. The nearest beach, Hulumale Beach, is about 60 meters away, with a public sandy shore located just 15 meters from the hotel’s front. Guests should note that beaches on the island are municipal and shared with locals, and there are clothing restrictions outside the designated bikini beach. The address is Lot No 10092, Nirolhu magu, Hulhumale. The hotel’s first-line beachfront location allows easy access to water activities like snorkeling and diving offered nearby.

I arrived early and was greeted with a glass of juice. Overall, the room was okay for the price.

It was pretty good back then, but if they don't provide pick-up and drop-off, they should have indicated that, and they contacted for half a day.

The room is not very good, quite a hotel in the village

It's really very bad, it's a very dilapidated roadside inn, everything is rusty and broken! Really bad experience!

I advise all friends who want to book this hotel to give up this idea as soon as possible. I personally experienced a huge thunder. The hotel has no sense of responsibility, no service concept, no integrity, and lies. Chinese people don't cheat Chinese people. Don't think that stepping on thunder is a low-probability event and bad luck will not come to you. You can check the historical reviews of this hotel. As long as you check in, you will be 100% cheated. The experience is as follows:
1. In order to ensure a smooth trip, I sent an email to this hotel a week in advance to confirm relevant matters. One day passed, two days passed, and three days passed without a reply. Seeing that I was about to leave, I asked Ctrip for help. With the help of Ctrip, the hotel responded. The hotel also lied that it did not receive my email. If it did not receive it, how did you reply to my email? This kind of bragging is not even worth bragging about, right? The above is just an appetizer, and the excitement is still to come.
2. Seeing that this hotel provides airport pick-up and drop-off services, 15 US dollars per person, thinking that I am unfamiliar with the place, and it is a late flight to arrive, and I have a family with me, although it is a bit expensive, I still booked the airport pick-up and drop-off service for convenience and safety. The reservation was also confirmed by Ctrip. The other party also replied in an email that I should look for a vehicle with the hotel logo after getting off the plane. Unexpectedly, after getting off the plane, I waited for half an hour but didn't see the hotel's pick-up vehicle. After searching around Maldives Airport for three times without success, I had no choice but to seek help from Ctrip. It was already 23:30 local time, 02:30 the next day Beijing time. After coordination by Ctrip, the hotel replied that I should call them myself to inform them of the location, and they would drive to pick me up. The waiting time should be at least 30 minutes. W t f? ? Is the airport pick-up I booked fake? I have seen similar situations in the comments before where someone booked a pick-up but didn't wait for the car. I thought it was a low-probability event. I am not so unlucky, right? At the scene, I realized that booking such a hotel was a full-probability event. I immediately told Ctrip that I couldn't wait. Fortunately, Ctrip handled it properly and let me take a taxi by myself, and the cost was borne by Ctrip. High energy ahead.
3. The resort island I booked was Westin Island. Before departure, I communicated with Ctrip’s housekeeper many times. I was told that Westin would confirm my seaplane flight the next day with Coconut Tree Hotel. I only needed to confirm the check-out time with Coconut Tree Hotel to ensure that I could catch the seaplane flight. When I checked in, the hotel did ask me about the check-out time the next day. At this time, I was still unaware that Westin had told Coconut Tree Hotel that my seaplane flight the next day was 8:30. So I said a more compromising check-out time, 10:00. The hotel also didn’t realize that I was about to miss the seaplane. After checking in, I checked out at 10:00 the next day as planned. I have to complain about the hygiene of this hotel here. I am a person with a very high tolerance for hotels. I have enjoyed Bulgari, St. Regis, Ritz-Carlton, Hanting, Home Inn, Haiyou and even the guesthouse. But this hotel is really as dirty as it can be. The quilt has a strong odor, cockroaches and spider webs can be seen everywhere, which is disgusting and refreshes the bottom line of the hotels I have stayed in. I took a taxi to the airport at 10:30 and was told that I had missed the seaplane at 8:30 and the next available seaplane would be at 16:30. I was dumbfounded on the spot. From check-in to check-out, the Coconut Tree Hotel did not mention a single letter about the seaplane flight. Even when I told them that I would check out at 10 o'clock, they did not realize the abnormality and made a reminder. This is completely an accident caused by the serious information communication failure of the Coconut Tree Hotel, okay? After many communications with the Westin staff at the airport and the efforts of the Westin team, another seaplane was temporarily dispatched to take us to a nearby island, and then we took a speedboat to the Westin. The time to go to the island is 15:30 Male time. It was delayed for 6 hours. I would like to thank the Westin team for being very powerful and minimizing my losses. What is most infuriating is that when the Westin team showed me the call records with the Coconut Tree Hotel, the Coconut Tree Hotel insisted on denying that it had not received any notification. Later, Westin learned that their island hotel team and airport team had called the Coconut Tree Hotel more than once and more than one person to confirm my seaplane time, and even called them early the next morning. In this case, the Coconut Tree Hotel and its domestic agent still denied it and said that they could only apologize and would not pay a penny. It really made me laugh.
I negotiated with Ctrip, and Ctrip handled it actively and efficiently. But at this time, I had no mood for vacation. A long-awaited trip to Maldives was ruined by this Coconut Tree Hotel with no moral bottom line, no service awareness, and no integrity. I replied to Ctrip and negotiated again after returning home. In the end, Ctrip gave a full refund.
The above is the blood and tears history of my booking of this Coconut Tree Hotel. I hope all tourists will open their eyes and boycott this unscrupulous hotel and agent together.

I'm really speechless about this transitional hotel. The airport pick-up and drop-off didn't come even after I was promised. The room was so shabby, the bedside was so disgusting, and the bathroom was a rag in the open air that couldn't block anything. Then here comes the point! The next day, Westin arranged the 8 a.m. shuttle flight without notifying me, causing me to miss the time to get to the island. Fortunately, Westin helped me change the shuttle speed boat ride at 4 p.m., which was 6 hours late. I went to the island in a short time and missed lunch. Those who saw the comments must not be upset again. Westin also showed me their call records. The transition hotel actually defaulted on the bill. It’s too bad, too bad, too bad!

The room is not big, the bedding is clean, it has air conditioning and a fan, and the bathroom shower only has half a glass door. Stayed overnight for transition. Breakfast is very simple, just a few slices of bread, an egg, and a cup of coffee. No toiletries, no slippers.

Very clean, air-conditioned, the bathroom is uniquely designed, the service is very good 👍, the food is rich and varied, with various flavors and delicacies, and the fruits are also rich, great reviews!
