Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Adults Only Resort in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll

We had an amazing time at the Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort, the resort staff has done everything to make our stay very pleasant. Communication before our arrival and arrangements for the domestic flights were seamless. The setting of the resort is beautiful, pristine beach and clear water where we spent a lot of time enjoying the sights of the wonderful marine life. The overwater sunset bungalows were perfect for relaxing, we loved the spaciousness, direct lagoon access, and thoughtful floor plan. The food at both restaurants was absolutely delicious, kudos to the chefs and all restaurant staff for an excellent service. The tennis court was an added bonus, though a newer set of tennis balls would be recommended and had we known this before we would have brought a set :-)

The staff are incredible, this isn’t a joke they are, very courteous and exceptionally helpful. We opted for the overwater Villa with pool and sunset view, was a good choice, if I am being critical the accommodation could do with some modernisation, cleaning came everyday and replenished the drinks and towels, they are very private, and we found ourselves staying at the Villa. The food choices are more than adequate, there are two restaurants, Alita is the buffet and for breakfast, lovely Illy coffee, Vista is the overwater Italian again very good quality. Hammy offers a snorkel guided tour of the reef, certainly recommended. The gym has everything you need, BUT the Yoga should be free and regular, overall an amazing experience.

We had a wonderful experience in Mercure best view,room Drinks and food they serve and thanks to the Thiloma . She was attentive to every detail, and always had a smile. Made our stay even more enjoyable! Excellent service throughout! The Thiloma was professional, friendly, and ensured we were comfortable at all times. Highly appreciated!

Just back from our second visit to Mercure Kooddoo, and it absolutely lived up to expectations once again. The welcome drinks in our room was a lovely touch and great way to start our holiday. The reef here is simply incredible,with an abundance of marine life. We saw sharks, rays, turtles, and almost every day we could spot dolphins in the distance from our water villa. We stayed in a sunset pool villa, and having direct access to the reef was amazing, we snorkelled every day. One of our favourite moments was watching the sunset from our private pool each evening, often with blacktip fins gliding through the water as the sun went down. The food has definitely improved since our last visit. As a fairly fussy eater, I always found something to enjoy. The pasta station was excellent, and the addition of the seafood and BBQ outdoor stations made a big difference. What truly makes this resort special though, is the staff. Everyone is incredibly friendly and helpful. A special mention to Pubudu, Naveen, and Kunal at the pool bar for taking such great care of us, and to Poppi in the restaurant. Apologies I don’t know all your names but you were all fantastic. We also had a great chat with Eduardo at the dive centre; his enthusiasm was infectious, and hopefully next time we’ll take the plunge and go diving. We genuinely can’t wait to return, already looking forward to our next visit!

The resort was beautiful and the snorkeling was the best I have ever experienced. The staff in the resort were sensational. The only negative was the grumpy manager at the reception desk. I would definitely recommend this destination to my friends.

We just finished our stay at Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort in Feb ‘26 and honestly… how anyone gives this place anything less than 5 stars is beyond me.

The staff are next level. Incredibly helpful, genuinely friendly, and nothing is ever too much trouble. It never feels forced or scripted. They just want you to have the best time possible and it shows in everything they do.

The resort puts on heaps of complimentary activities which is such a great touch. Yoga, sound bath sessions, chef’s garden tours, cooking lessons, arts and crafts. It is not just sit by the pool and drink cocktails, although you can absolutely do that too. There is always something happening if you want to get involved.

The food is unbelievable. The buffet restaurant is outstanding, huge variety, different themes each night, and everything is done properly. Not resort average, genuinely excellent. The drinks list is extensive and again the service is unmatched.

Vista Restaurant deserves a special mention. It can be very quiet at lunch which surprised us because there is no reason for it to be. This place is fantastic. The food is top tier and it should absolutely be high on everyone’s rotation while they are here.

The snorkelling and scuba diving around Gaafu Alifu Atoll is hard to put into words. We have seen octopus, turtles, plenty of sharks, and what feels like a thousand different species of fish, both big and tiny. There is a reef shelf where it drops off into the channel about 30 metres off the villas. Snorkelling that edge is mesmerising. The colour, the movement, the life. It is one of those things you genuinely have to see to appreciate.

The villas are beautiful. There is a glass floor panel looking straight into the ocean, full height windows to soak up the view, and the bathrooms are exceptional. The outdoor bath is something else entirely.

And to finish it off, the way the team handled departure was just incredible. We had an early transfer and they planned everything perfectly. They organised a proper takeaway breakfast for us at 5am, including real coffees, not just a token snack. They escorted us to the terminal, helped with everything, and stayed to make sure we got through smoothly and were all sorted for our flight. That level of care right to the very end sums this place up.

There honestly is not enough that can be said about how wonderful this place is. It is truly remarkable. You would be mad to focus on the odd negative review. Come here, switch off, and live your best life for a week.

You will not regret it.

My partner and I have had a once in a lifetime experience during our staying at the Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort. The beachside villa is absolutely incredible and we were so impressed and excited to have that, but when the offer of an over water villa was made available, that literally was to good to be true and impossible to ignore. The rest of our stay was just surreal; the villa, the views, seeing all the sealife, swimming with sharks and a turtle, watching the most spectacular sunrises from our own villa deck, all of that was just simply breathtaking. Add to that the excellent service from every staff member across all the entire resort, the amazing and wide variety of food, and delicious drinks, is has been a holiday of a lifetime! Thank you so very much!

Our stay at Mercure Koodoo Maldives Resort was truly unforgettable from beginning to end. From the moment we arrived to the day we left, the welcome and service were excellent. We were greeted with genuine warmth, and throughout our stay the team consistently delivered attentive, thoughtful service that made us feel valued and completely relaxed.

A special mention must go to all the staff, who went above and beyond to make our stay so memorable. Their friendliness and professionalism were exceptional. In particular, Poppy and Thiloma in the restaurants took wonderful care of us. They were always attentive, welcoming, and ensured every dining experience was seamless and enjoyable.

The food choices and quality were outstanding. The variety available each day was impressive, catering to every taste, and every dish was beautifully prepared and presented. From fresh seafood to international cuisine, the standard was consistently exceptional and quickly became one of the highlights of our holiday.

Unfortunately, during our stay my wife had an accident and needed medical attention. We were incredibly grateful for the care provided by Dr. Khalid, the on-site doctor, who was so kind, caring, and professional. She regularly changed the dressings and checked in on my wife throughout our stay, offering reassurance and genuine compassion during what could have been a very stressful time.

We chose a water villa with a sunset view, and it did not disappoint. The view was absolutely out of this world — watching the sun dip below the horizon from our private deck was simply magical. The villa itself was spacious, luxurious, and beautifully designed, offering both comfort and privacy in a breathtaking setting.

Overall, despite the unexpected hiccup, the incredible service, stunning surroundings, and exceptional dining made this a holiday we will never forget. We left feeling deeply appreciative of the care we received and with memories that will stay with us for years to come.

Upon arrival to Male international airport we need to go their counter (B4)near the domestic airport terminal side by walk. They take us to the waiting lounge where we can wait and have breakfast as well. They will assist to the domestic plane to the hotel it takes around one HR. They will receive from airport and take to the hotel in buggy which is 5 mins away. And they provide welcome drink and hot towel and take us to the room and Ilsa showed and explained everything in the room.The room was good with a spectacular view, out door pool, and outdoor bathtub and shower all were good. I orders pizza to room as the lunch section closed by 2 o clock. As it’s dec 31st We had this new year dinner,drinks, music and fireworks. Unfortunately I couldn’t able to book the scuba or sunset cruise as the weather was not good and they got canceled last minute. Food was good but not so many options for me as Indian vegetarian. I took body massage in the sap was good. Used the gym , walked around the garden, and soaked in sun , chill pool side was good experience.
