Van der Valk Hotel Deventer in Deventer

A stunning hotel in an out of the way location. The rooms are beautiful and the breakfast was incredible — one of the best we’ve had. Would highly recommend and would happily stay again.

We stayed here for 4 days when travelling back from Germany before catching the ferry from IJmuiden. The hotel is easy to find and the car parking excellent and free. Despite being close to the motorway it is a quiet area. The hotel is situated about 4km outside the main historic centre and a lot of people who stay use bikes to get into town-there are cycle tracks. The hotel too has bikes and ebikes for rental. There are lovely wooded areas to cycle around as well as to the city. We did not have bikes and didn't want to use the car. The local bus stop is just opposite the hotel. buses are every half hour morning and late afternoon and every hour around lunch time. Very reasonable cost, journey to the station on ther edge of the historic centre takes about 15 minutes. Our room was spacious and clean. The hotel menu for dinner was varied, good value and excellent food. The swimming pool and wellness areas (2 saunas a steam room and cool room were well kept.

I had a fabulous time here. First time in Deventer and I couldn't choose a better hotel to stay! Our room was huge with a beautiful view, and most important super clean! Breakfast was delicious, lots of great options! Big thanks to the manager Roos, she has her eyes all over the place to manage a perfect stay!

And even though we didn’t want to pay for the full breakfast at the hotel, the staff were very happy for us to still have usual coffee and pastries for normal charges.

Very modern and nice hotel

We were here for 2 nights. First stayed in room 512, very nice with a view over the forest area. 1 point of attention, in the bathroom alcove there was still an opened shampoo bottle from the previous guests. Room service friendly, the food was super fast. Compliments to the kitchen brigade. Recommended the strawberry ice cream coupe. T****th night in room 304 was fine again. Now had dinner in the restaurant. Super friendly service employee Emma, ​​the team could shake hands with an employee like you. You did a fantastic job, with a beautiful friendly smile and you were super helpful. We had used the vouchers for the welcome drinks and birthday voucher, so that also made our stay in the hotel twice as enjoyable. The toothbrush set and razor blade set are pricey. But all in all, this afternoon and evening are still good so far. Checking out will be possible tomorrow via the online self-check, which is also useful. And maybe we will have breakfast early tomorrow, but this can still be announced until 10:00 PM tonight. Room with bath coffee and tea facilities are so wonderful. We did not visit the sauna or swimming pool because that would give us another good reason to come again.

Nice new hotel. Lots of friendly staff. Beautiful room with all the trimmings. Delicious breakfast, plentiful. Also had a nice dinner every evening. Impressed with the kitchen. The bicycle shed was also excellent and safe. We also used the bar, great atmosphere.

Just one night at this hotel was enough to see how magnificent it is! starting with the room, which was totally impeccable! everything clean and well organized the design of the room and bathroom... I really have no words, it was surreal. I felt so good there. Then there were the saunas which for me were a surprise with all those lights and different degrees of heat and very relaxing the swimming pool! omg I was really delighted, please whoever invented putting iron as the pool floor really was a genius. Lastly, that cocktail was so well prepared that I felt like I was in the clouds there were so many good things there that I think I'm going to write a book so I think it's better if I just leave it now, to you who are reading this and want to go to this hotel, just go. Someday I will come back to this hotel again because I really loved it.

We stayed here for 3 nights, it was the first time, what struck us was that everything was very spacious. Friendly and helpful staff, both at reception and in the restaurant. We had a huge room, more than enough space. The beds were wonderful. The breakfast is extensive and has something for everyone. The only thing we missed was the Deventer cookie 🧁 We also went to the wellness for a while, delicious. We also had dinner in the restaurant one evening. The young lady who helped us was super friendly and helpful. The food was great, we had the tuna steak among others. We had our own bicycles, there is a reasonable bicycle shed, small thing: the lighting was broken, we reported this, but it had not yet been fixed. All in all a great hotel

For the third time in a row, I spent the night here on New Year's Eve with my family of 3 in a wonderfully spacious family suite. Lovely hotel, good beds, lovely swimming pool and wellness on the 9th floor and perfect breakfast!
