Small, strange and quirky rooms to stay in right in the center of the city. Excellent for a quiet stay with a little bit of difference to it.

All the reviews that they are friendly are false ! No wifi unless you pay. Host is totally unfriendly, unhelpful. We were totally shocked by the level of hospitality given. Nobody at reception most of the time. Call for room service ask for extra pillows, they thought you speak greek. Not enough towels in the room. Got to call and ask. Location is far far away from town. 20 min walk to town. Value for money highly questionable ?

This is the worst place in New Zealand , the room smells like something died in there ! the rooms are shouting out 'cheap and nasty' and to top it off the manager has bad breath and has a loud and blunt manner that just puts you off , we only stayed one night because we are fast learners , dont bother going near the place, rat haven !

Three friends stayed in a two bedroom unit. There were some long dark hairs on the shower wall - not ours! My electric blanket didn't work. I told the lady at the reception desk, but she didn't write it down, so I doubt anything was done. The room wasn't serviced during our two night stay. The wifi is supplied via a third party agent. It was excruciatingly slow to respond & kept dropping out. The room reeked of smoke. Won't stay here again.

The Studio room is poorly kitted out, a small bar fridge placed on an old desk in the corner, the kettle could not be plugged in from the desk as the cable is too short. No plates, knives or forks and glasses available. Although they advertise that "rooms have cooking facilities", the studio has nothing, not even a Microwave.

We stayed on 30 June and were shocked by how bad this motel was. The photos online are completely misleading — the reality is dirty, run-down, and clearly not maintained. The room had holes in the walls, peeling paint, and lifting, filthy carpet. The shower was disgusting, with mould, a used bar of soap with hair, and even a loofah still in it. The kitchen had greasy cabinet fronts, one broken door, and an open carton of milk in the fridge that had expired weeks earlier. The toilet seat was yellowing, blankets were thin despite it being mid-winter, and there was a stain on the bed. It was obvious the room hadn’t been cleaned properly — if at all. We left and found a clean, comfortable motel elsewhere. The manager showed no concern and offered no refund, and even ******* couldn’t get one for us. We were later told this property is used as emergency housing, which really should be disclosed before booking. This was one of the worst places I’ve ever stayed. Do not waste your money here.

The hotel beds were the best I have ever slept on and I have travelled a lot! The hotel itself needed some TLC but it was safe, quiet, and comfortable. It was perfect for our family of 4. The owner was warm and welcoming. He even review his plans for renovations as he just purchased the hotel less than a year ago. I expect this place to be beautiful once the renovation are completed. I highly recommend this hotel!

The manager went out of his way to help us. We left our bags in the office because we arrived late in the evening from the train, and wanted to get food. When we came back to check in, he had taken our bags to our room for us. Such a nice man, and told us about things. This is a verynice place to stay.
