This is my second time staying in the Emerald. Large space as always！Friendly staff as always! One thing to mention, I have left my SM Pad in the room! The friendly staff called me and told me how to arrange a return bag to collect the Pad! The hotel kept my pad safe for a few days until I completed my trip to arrange for the return bag to collect it! Much appreciated!

Loved our apartment, having air con in both bedrooms was a life saver. Stay were very helpful and friendly. The pool was excellent.

First room was not cleaned properly. The second room was a lot better and ideal for me and me whānau. The receptionist was a great help!

Staff courteous. Room looked nice. One bed I was unsure if it had been made with fresh sheets. Fridge had nit been cleaned out from previous guest. Mismatched crockery and cutlery. Would have expected better for the cost

What is a nice place to stay very easy? Close to all Shops fantastic swimming pool if you’d like to swim clean and tidy. value for money

Unfortunately, our stay had several issues. Parking was very poor, and the room was extremely noisy. Not all curtains were present, which affected privacy. There were also belongings left behind from the previous occupants, and the bath was extremely dirty—we had to clean it ourselves, and the cloth turned brown. Clean and tidy camp. Great location next to the beach and easy walk to town. Enjoyed an awesome sunset whilst there.

We were booked in to stay to celebrate our son's wedding held down in the midway surf club, the park was perfect for each of our needs...plenty space to enjoy, lots of playgrounds for children, a cafe across the road from the park gates, which we frequented...the park is just on the edge of the beach, there is a huge boardwalk long the entire area + beyond which we used to walk to view the sites +...

We were a large group of line dancers from Rotorua. We had a wonderful time staying in your lovely camp. It was a great way for a large group to be close together but have our own space. We will be back. Thank you

Love the location and super friendly reception team. Great facilities which will be even better after the current upgrades are finished.

Directly beside the beach. Not too far to the centre. Accommodation was tidy, but bathroom door requires maintenance.

Parking outside our ground floor room. Room itself offered handicap facilities in the shower area. Property is walking distance to shopping, cafes etc.

I have stayed in lots of motels over many years , and this is one of the best. It is well-situated, handy  to shops and nearby waterfront. The staff were all friendly. My unit was very spacious, immaculately clean, neat and well-presented. The TV was modern with a great choice of programming. The bed was most comfortable. Highly recommend.

Our room overlooked the car park, the weather was awful and we could not open the ranchslider to let air in. There was no window... The room was clean and tidy.

Lovely holiday in Gisborne. Small bed but spotless room with everything we needed. We loved the coffee machine in the foyer and used the lovely pool in the hot weather. Staff were excellent. We will return

We were especially lucky to have a view of the New Years Day fireworks, on the "not scenic" side of the Hotel. Friendly staff and great location. Would recommend.

What a great spot at the Fringe of town. Clean, convenient, cozy! Plus Netflix, which I don’t have at home, so a treat to me.

Really Great Place. Wonderful Hosts. The room was super clean with everything you need. The breakfast was a super bonus. I was lucky enough to have been given a complementary room by Air New Zealand for a cancelled flight.

We stayed at this motel for just one night during our trip. It is sited a short walk across to the beachfront in Gisborne. The room was a good size, we actually had two rooms joined by a small kitchen and small bathroom with shower. Kitchen had oven and hob which was a bonus as most motels appear to have just microwaves. There was a small seating area outside both front and rear doors. Staff were friendly...

We had a wonderful stay and couldn’t be happier with our experience. The service was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The rooms were spotless and beautifully maintained, with very comfortable beds that ensured a great night’s sleep. The view was absolutely stunning — waking up to the ocean and having stairs directly from the balcony down to the beach...

What a wonderful place to stay. We received a very warm welcome and the room was ready. It was all spotlessly clean and well equipped. The furnishings were or a high standard. But the best thing is the view of the sea and beach. It was wonderful to sit on the balcony with a glass of wine listening to the waves. Unfortunately we only stayed one night as I could have stayed forever.

An excellent stop over on our tour of New Zealand. Check in was quick and easy and we were even given a small bottle of milk. Our room was on the first floor, it was spotlessly clean and very well appointed with a bedroom, separate lounge area overlooking the ocean, small kitchen and shower room. I would highly recommend this motel as it was excellent value for money.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Whispering Sands. We were two couples. We had the top floor room (1st floor) and our friends stayed on the ground floor. We had drinks on their patio area which also had a bench seat and sun umbrella on the grass area. We also loved sitting on our balcony overlooking the beach and sea. Beautiful beach front positioned motel which has been tastefully refurbished with many thoughtful details. Jacky the manager went above and beyond to accommodate our changing travel needs when we needed an extra night stay due to medical requirements. She is a real asset to this business . Clean room & comfortable. Biggest problem was the bathroom floor getting very wet during showering as it is just a sloping floor. Good access for those in wheel chairs but messy for others. Limited cooking amenities- microwave only.

There was ample room, comfy bed and all the kitchen area you needed. Bathroom was big and shower had good pressure!

Handy to hospital which was great as that was where I needed to be near but if you don't have your own transport it is not the most convenient location as Gisborne does not have Uber and the taxi service are expensive and not easy to get. The Motel is clean and well maintained - I stayed in room with an 'accessible' bathroom, great if you need one but if you don't it detracts a bit from the rooms...

A hidden gem, close to the beach, great prices, spotlessly clean and superb communication.

Room was clean and staff were friendly and helpful. Another review already noted this, but the shower temperature was inconsistent oscillating back and forth, and the windows could use screens to keep out the bugs (the windows to my room were open when i checked in). The location is great! Very short walk to the beach, and easy to come and go.
