I 100% give this place a five star rating. It’s cozy and very clean. The hotel gives a very historic feeling yet the rooms are modern and set up well. The owner is friendly and very accommodating. I highly recommend this family owned property for anyone traveling through the area. Thank you for the pleasant stay and the recommendation of “India Today” restaurant for dinner. Well worth it.

We really enjoyed our stay at The State Hotel ! AJ was fantastic at check in and gave us plenty of information and tips. The room was very clean and in great condition. Big plus was the super comfortable king bed ! Free laundry room on site was convenient (1 washer 1 dryer, complimentary washing powder available). A couple of attention points: bathroom in our room (14) was probably one of the smallest we ever experienced travelling. The water kept changing temperatures (from ice cold to burning hot at random moments). The room only had small windows at the top of the walls which made us feel a bit like in a basement room (although we were on the first floor). From what we saw most rooms have standard windows. Despite these points, we loved our stay and would totally recommend it ! Thanks so much for these lovely 2 nights !

Room was spotless but quite small for a studio. Amenities were fairly complete but no toaster and the counter top was again small. Bathroom was tiny. The hot3l itself was lovely with nice artwork and the guest lou ge was a welcome room to relax in. Guest laundry was also a bonuss. Staff was great.

We had a really lovely stay at the State Hotel - AJ was so welcoming and gave us lots of tips for New Plymouth, like the Festival of Lights, which ended up being a highlight. The room and bathroom were immaculate. We particularly appreciated the guest laundry, where you can wash and dry your clothes on your own time for free. There are restaurants and shops very close by, and the cycle hire shop was also very near. Would definitely stay there again! Thank you AJ and team.

Room was very clean. Staff are very welcoming and recommend plenty of places to eat. A variety of treats & toiletries in the room. We took advantage of the laundry services.

Well located on main st. The decor is first class and rooms in good condition. Wonderful owner operator who has vested interests n new Plymouth.

Could not recommend The State Hotel enough,probably the cleanest hotel we have ever stayed. It was luxurious but with out the price tag. The staff were beyond friendly and helpful! Great location.
We had never been to New
Plymouth before, such a lovely place and if we are lucky enough to come back, we would not look for accommodation elsewhere, this is the place for us.
