Reviews
From the second we walked in there door were offered assistance and help with everything. The owner had some free time so drove us up the mountain to the ski area so we could hire our gear without having to lug it back on the bus. We were told everywhere to go up the mountain and how to organise lessons. The bus time table was then clearly explained so we knew how to get up there in the morning and back after skiing each day. Service was beyond amazing and the owners are some one the nicest people I have met while traveling. Just wanted to assist with everything and ensure we had a wonderful holiday.
I would make the journey back and stay here again. It was wonderful.
Of you want to experience Trysil and all its beauty don't stay at the big chains stay here.
The location is good and easy to find, parking is also good. No keys it's all entry via keypad codes. Even for Norway 135kr for a beer is ridiculous (especially when the brewery is attached to the same building) the windows open in the rooms which is nice
Restaurant - fairly busy when we arrived here at 18:00ish. One Host/Waiter/ Receptionist and One chef handled all the services. There were approx 14 guests there. The service was exceptional, charming and friendly (of course he was Swedish). We ordered the game and burger. Both tasty and nicely served. Deserts were also very good. Compliments to the one staff: Chef who kept banging out meals for the guests.
Accommodation- registration or lack of any requirement and access to room was smooth. I understand this is a simple/ basic offering however there are certain expectations that must be met when running a hotel. Firstly, it classifies itself as a hotel and not a motel. At a daily rate of $90-$100 a good night’s rest and comfort is the bare minimum that needs to be provided, which sadly this hotel has failed at.
The rooms are very”tired” looking and frankly the old carpet looks grotty and unwelcoming. The room was dusty. The TV didn’t work. The beds are rather uncomfortable but even worse is the fact that one horrible pillow - one shouldn’t even consider them as pillows as they have no padding and one large cushion ( which has no changeable cover) is placed on the bed. Just very uninviting and didn’t feel clean, was very uncomfortable. To top It off I was given Room #20. This is in front of the stairs- I heard every person and every interaction that goes on outside the hallway and also heard guests going down the stairs from 07:00
I feel more tired than when I checked in and didn’t have any sleep. Not part of my expectation when I check into a hotel.
I will happily go the restaurant and bar, but as far as hotel accommodation, the hotel Management really needs to step up and sort it out. If you bill yourself as rustic and quaint, it means one still has to pay attention to providing basic comfort, quality and service. This review is given in good spirit as the hotel as many ingredients and just needs some improvements. Thanks
Will not choose this hotel again and recommend to avoid it.
