Lille Hotell in Arendal

Not a "boutique" hotel by any means! Max. two stars. No real breakfast!

A very, very basic self-service hotel with small rooms. No reception, you get a code to lock yourself in through both the front and your room. You need to go up stairs from the street entrance to the front door, so this is not for anyone who struggles with walking.

Once you enter the front door there is a small, smelly lift with 1980's carpeting.
The room (standard room) was small and absolutely basic. No closet for clothes, no TV or minibar, just a mini desk that hardly has room for a laptop. No hairdryer or clothing iron in the room.

The bathroom is with linoleum floor and walls, and a shower curtain.

There is no common dining area, just a counter in the halls where there is self-serving of coffee and tea. If you order breakfast, a pre-made packed sandwich will be served here, either with jam or ham/cheese. I personally found it a bit creepy with personal SMS messages from the manager asking what sandwich option I preferred, in a hotel where you otherwise don't see personnel.

The Hotel should be labelled a 1-star hotel with no frills or reception, or a maximum of 2 stars since there is daily housekeeping.

Positives: Central location, and cleanliness was decent. Public(?) parking house very close (150 m).

All in all, one expects far more from a place that labels itself a 3-star “boutique hotel”, with room prices starting at around $120 a night absolutely off-season (October).
