The resort is located far from everything and is difficult to reach. The road is poorly signposted. The property has clearly seen better days. It could have been a beautiful setting, but it is now completely run down. Many facilities are old or broken: the outdoor lights do not work, and the pathways and wooden pergola are in poor condition. The rooms are spacious and offer a nice view, but the furniture is outdated. There was no hot water, the towels were dirty, and some of the locks did not work. There was also no terrace furniture provided. The food was served as an Indian-style buffet, but the quality was disappointing. The breakfast was downright poor. In addition, the staff seemed to pay attention mainly to the Indian guests and not to us. Never saw the pool. This is definitely not a place we would return to.

My wife and I were pleasantly impressed by how well run the Resort is. We were given a corner room 14, with easy access to glorious sunset views at the back. Rooms were comfortable, showers good, except they did not have cupboards for hanging clothes We had buffet dinner & breakfast, & the spread & food was decent. Service from reception to bell boy to dining room staff were all helpful. Popular with tour groups & couples. Recommended

Perfect place to stay before or after experiencing the 9km long Balcony Walk along the spectacular Jebel Shams canyon, starting some four kms away from the resort. To get to the resort you have to tackle a quite steep 20 km gravel/sand road which we did in a solid 4*4, though we saw people driving a normal car (very slowly and with sweaty hands, I imagine). Considering the remoteness and accessibility of the place, the resort is surprisingly, well, resort-ish. Very well organised with smooth reception. A nice room: we took a sunset chalet and it was very fine indeed, clean with an excellent shower and two 100cm wide comfortable beds and a terrace where you can burn wood while enjoying the spectacular view. Complementary water. A nice pool bar with a knowledgeable barista. The diner room was a bit of the camp sort, but the food was again surprisingly rich in variety and freshness even they cater more to the palate of the West-European guests. Breakfast was also surprisingly copious. Check out is at 11:00 so if you want to have the breakfast (starting at 7:00) and do the Balcony walk (taking 4 to 5 hours) you need to check out before (Oman is super safe and secure so no worries to leave your stuff in the car in the small village where the walk starts).

Fairly large hotel all set out in separate cabins. Our room was large and very comfortable. There was a bit of a smell in the bathroom. There is heating in the rooms but no extra blankets and it was very cold the night we were there. The breakfast was excellent.

This place has among the worst rooms you can find anywhere. Old furniture. No towels, you have to ask but there is no phone connecting to reception. Moldy and dirty bathroom without any amenities except minuscule soap and cheap tiny shampoo. Heating does not work so you get a small portable unit. Huge disappointment!

Second stay very pleasant from all points of view: the welcome, the restaurant, the accommodations. All the staff are very professional and friendly. The renovation work is magnificent and the location remains unbeatable for all visitors, hikers or not. To discover or rediscover

Perfect place to explore the mountains! We went with our family and it was super clean and comfortable, with truly incredible food (best salads in Oman) and a gret spot to explore the mountains. Stunning views and everyone so helpful and friendly

Had an amazing stay at Jebel Shams! The staff were super friendly and went above and beyond to make our trip special. The food was seriously delicious—couldn't get enough! The facilities were top-notch, making it the perfect spot to unwind in the mountains. If you're looking for a mix of luxury and nature, this is the place!

A very warm welcome on arrival by Mr Ibrahim Al Khatri, who gave me a nice discount for my twelve year old son. The restaurant staff are friendly and food was good. The chalet was clean and well-maintained. The TV didn't work at first, but support staff were very quick in fixing it. Thanks to all for your hospitality and kindness. I shall visit again soon.
