Donskoj Les Hotel

Hotel "Donskoy Les" is located in a pine forest in a very beautiful place on the banks of the Don River. The air is clean, coniferous, the territory is large, but not huge.
They offer bike and car rentals for children. Although, in my opinion, you can safely walk there on foot without transport, except for scooters for children.
There is a descent to the Don River, but the beach is not equipped there, which is correct, since the current is strong there, which the administrator at the reception warned us about in advance. And there is also a swinging suspension bridge across the ravine, a kind of attraction for children and adults, leading to Cape Guskov. There are benches to sit and admire the gorgeous view from this hill.
A huge plus of the territory is the presence of a pool with two bowls and outdoors.
In the nursery, the water is very warm, you can hardly catch the children from there.
There is children's animation, but we did not attend it, we only heard the fervent squeals of children.
It is better to take rooms in separate houses (bungalows), as there is no sound insulation in the buildings. Everything is heard.
When we arrived and filled out the documents for settling, on the second floor, children were running, I thought that they would collapse on me, and the floor, and for me the ceiling, was shaking from their feet 🤪🙈
The furniture and furnishings in the bungalow are tired (photo attached). The sofa in one of the rooms is very uncomfortable and creaks. Bed linen does not match the parameters of the furniture. The sheet is smaller than the sofa. Pillowcases for pillows are 70*70 and pillows are 50*70. There is a small kettle, 2 glasses for water, a refrigerator and a TV.
The second room has two beds, they are comfortable, the child slept well.
Bathroom, small but compact. But the shower cabin is scary because when you stand in it, the floor seems to be slipping under you.
Cleaned at your request, which must be reported at the reception.
They offer to buy a complex breakfast for 300 r, it's very convenient. Since in the restaurant menu one porridge costs 180 or 200 rubles, but here for 300 you get: porridge, 2 eggs, sausages, a spoonful of lettuce / beans in tomato sauce, 2 pancakes / croissant and tea.
There is also a set dinner, but we did not buy it.
The restaurant's cuisine is not the strength of the Donskoy Les. The prices are high, the quality of the food is satisfactory, and the portions are small. I was disappointed with the kebab, they don’t have it on coals, although we are in the fresh air, but cooked in the oven 🤦🏼‍♀️ If I had known, I would never have ordered it for 450 r. But I liked the plate with potatoes and beef, although the price is too high for it. Bottled beer. The waiters in the cafe are good and friendly.
It takes 20/25 minutes to go to Kudykina Gora by car, a 5-minute drive is the Holy Tikhon Transfiguration Convent, 10 minutes the city of Zadonsk and Christmas - the Mother of God Monastery.

Minus only for the hastily made rooms and unfriendly staff (hello to the individual at the reception who scolded my wife and child because they used the service toilet, apparently my daughter should have peed on the doorstep), everything else is fine. The restaurant is delicious, the territory is large and beautiful.

Nice well-groomed territory, forest, near the don river.
An excellent place for a basic location if you want to travel around the area: Kudykina Gora, Zadonsk, Skornyakovo and more.
The food is good and tasty, but for dinner it's better in Skornyakovo, 30 min. by car.

Not suitable for long independent rest:
- the territory is tiny
- the number of rooms is meager, the rooms themselves are very small, for example, the family is only 20 m2.
- no breakfasts, or rather they are not included in the price and cannot be included in the price, although the price is ridiculous, 300 rubles.
- there is a pool, but it is small, even the children showed no interest
- there is practically no leisure, not organized
- SPA - as it were, but only a proud name, rent of a bath complex for an hour or a day.

I don’t dare to call it a country club, not even close.
It is difficult for a long family vacation, it is better to look in the neighboring areas

After resting at the base, I decided for myself that I would definitely leave a review. And so, check-in at 17.00, which is not always convenient if you have small children. When booking a vacation, I was offered a room in an eco building for 7 people, at a cost of 7000 rubles. per day. Arriving at the check-in, it was discovered that: there is no air conditioning, there is a drain hole under the eco-building, and a not very pleasant smell pulls into the room, a terrace at the room, it is also a terrace for two adjacent rooms, and when you decide to have dinner with your family on the terrace in the evening, then you will block the passage for other vacationers in the eco-building. And the worst thing is that the place where the building is located ends with an endless cliff down, which is very dangerous in the presence of children. One clumsy movement, and you can fly down, far and for a long time. I would like the administration to think about the fence. As for the territory itself, everything is very clean and well-groomed. The base itself is located on a slope, and all the paths are made in the form of wooden steps. Restaurant for 3+, breakfast menu waited 40 minutes. The waiters referred to the fact that there are 2 people in the kitchen) and they do not have time. The playground is also on a hill, and is fenced with a fence through which an adult can fall, let alone children. The place is quiet, calm, with a well-groomed territory, but not for families with small children!!!!
