Hotel Sasanka in Tatranska Lomnica

Room is large but terribly old-fashioned. Furniture hasn’t been replaced in about 50 years.
First dinner: no choice! You eat what the hotel thinks. The portion is terribly small for an adult man. I was hungrier by the end than when we sat down to eat.
For the rest of the days, the dinner options were things I don’t like or I’m allergic to.
The bed is very soft, the curtains don’t darken anything. This means it’s impossible to sleep from five in the morning. No air conditioning.
The radiator clicks incessantly, whether it’s turned up or down completely.
The pillow is so big that you either can not sleep or sleep at a perpendicular angle. You can choose which of the two options you prefer.
Nothing is written in English. Neither in the restaurant, nor in the room, nor in the other parts of the hotel.
English is international language, and since we’re not slovakian, some unrecognizable Slovak food names at breakfast meant nothing to us. So we didn’t even try.
To say something good, the breakfast is abundant and delicious.
The ski lift is very close.

1 star for cleanness. Blankets are clean but they have not been replaced in 20 years. This is a serious problem. When you have a hotel and charge €60/night then you should at least take care of bedding. It can be simple but you have to take care of bedding! The impression I have is that the hotel management knows that people will pay for this hotel regardless if they keep it in shape or not because of its location. To be really honest, for the quality of the accommodation, it is greatly overpriced. We chose this hotel because of its location and because it was offering breakfast and dinner. When we came, we realized that they make dinners only in winter. Also, there is super sexist commercial for the bike rental directly in front of the hotel enteance. I think that the banner describes perfectly the nature of its management (see banner in the picture).

The hotel look nice from the outside, the room is pretty big and feels clean, and there is a nice view of trees from the window.
But, the room is very simple to the point it's unpleasant with a communist-era feel to it. upon entering the room there was a bad smell, which is apparently because it's an old building. although the room is pretty big and there is plenty of space to use, the bathroom is too small, and the shower is so small it's impossible to shower without touching the shower faucet. no soap dish in the shower! The bathroom mirror is too high for anyone shorter than 1.7m! the bathroom exhaust fan is very noisy. the curtains don't block the sun at all, so the room is flooded with light from 6:00 AM. Very Bad Wi-Fi connection, even for simple IM chat. the bed is too low for older men to sit down and stand up easily. uncomfortable pillows. blankets too warm for summer. I could hear my neighbor through the window. the automatic light in the corridor shuts off too fast, leaving you fumbling in the dark. the cleaners didn't put new soap even though the soap was almost finished after a few days. No air-conditioning. it can get pretty hot in the summer. not very welcoming hotel clerks
