Bukchonmaru Hanok Guesthouse in Seoul

Lovely place for the price paid. Free hanok in-house rental for photo taking. Simple nice authentic breakfast given. Location can be hard to find, but upon booking their guesthouse, owner drop me a welcome email to guide me how to find their location. will recommend family room with individual bathroom (instead of the shared bathroom, slight inconveniences).

This is the perfect place to experience korean culture at low prices and with family treatment. Must do in Korea!

Rooms are basic but authentic in this old village area. Owners speak multiple languages, were very helpful and basic Korean breakfast was welcome. They also let us wear Korean clothes for nice pictures.

Overall: We enjoyed our stay in this little hanok run by a very friendly and helpful elderly couple. Our 1st two nights were spent here, and our younger daughter enjoyed it so much that she wished we didn't need to leave.

Location: good as it was near the two palaces - Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung - and in the Bukchon Hanok Village, so you can easily visit these areas. Bus stop just in front of the hanok. Only issue is that it is up a very steep slope, so if you plan to walk there from the subway with big luggages, you will find it tough. Also, not so easy for those having walking difficulties.

Room: family room for quad was just enough for us to put our luggages beside the beds. Nice beds on the floor with extra comfy blankets (duvets). Slept well on them. Room has aircon. Very cosy. Adequate hanging for clothes in the room, but toilet was rather small and cramped. Not enough places for hanging clothes and towel.

Service: the elderly couple was very hospitable and friendly. Very cheerful people. They helped us with locating places nearby, explaining transportation nearby, calling for a taxi to get to the Seoul Station. The landlady was kind enough to also speak to the taxi driver to help us get our luggages into the boot. We were worried he would reject us as we were 4 pax with 1 large luggage, and 3 cabin luggages plus our own daypacks. She spoke to him nicely, and said it is possible, and he managed to squeeze them in. Traditional Korean breakfast was also prepared by the landlady and it was delicious. We had to leave early to catch our train, so she packed the kimbap nicely and put them in a bag with bottled cool water, with chopsticks and serviettes. Was so kind of her!

Bukchon living experience
We are family of four and all of us enjoyed this special opportunity to stay in one of this Korea Traditional Bukchon House for 2 nights. We booked a room with private toilet, it was clean and neat, and spacious enough to open our suitcases.
There’s minibus service that stops in front of the house, which takes you to and fro the nearest metro Anguk station. Otherwise it’s about 8mins walk to Anguk station from the house.
Gyeongbokgung is within walking distance from the house, there are many nice cafes and shops to visit on the way. The hosts are a pair of old couples who are very friendly and helpful. The can communicate in Mandarin and even teaches us some simple Korean languages!
They make us Kimbap and Korean Pancake as breakfast, which were very tasty!

The owner and his wife were very kind and created a warm atmosphere, so I had a good night's sleep. Transportation was very convenient for preparing essays for the Sungkyunkwan University entrance exam. Thank you~

Grandma is enthusiastic about cooking and delicious food. The house is clean and warm, and it is very comfortable to sleep at night, giving people a feeling of traveling back in time. The room was relatively small, the bathroom was so hot that I was suspicious of life, and it was inconvenient to climb the stairs. Don't expect convenient transportation if you live in Bukchon. It was all a 90-degree slope. Fortunately, I didn't have a suitcase, otherwise it would be straightforward. Just crawl. It’s so hot in summer in Korea
