Mangrove Beach Chalets in Tangalle

We stayed in a beachfront Cabana, which was perfect to completely unwind after a few weeks exploring central Sri Lanka. The cabana itself is pretty basic with just a few shelves, a good sized, comfy bed, fan and mosquito net. As well as a trap door leading to functional underground bathroom. But what it lacks in amenities it makes up for in location. A truly deserted beach, with a view of the sea from the patio interrupted by only a few palm trees and sun loungers (of which there are plenty). This place forces you to slow down, unplug, and spend a few days listening to the waves. The little on site restaurant does everything you need including a few good vegetarian options, beers and cocktails, though I would recommend swinging by a shop on your way there for some snacks and big bottles of water so you have no reason to leave.

I actually don’t know where to begin as I have so many praises for this place - but let’s begin with the bungalows. Perfect bungalows for 2 adults and 2 children (10 years) - size, design, beds, patio, everything was extremely nice. Set between coconut trees on a huge piece of land right by an endless beach - spectacular. Doesn’t get better than that. The restaurant and not a least the staff is on another level. Food was amazing, tasteful, plentiful and quite cheap - quality very high. Altogether a fantastic stay and experience which we would like to repeat

perfect place on the beach - quiet, end of the road, and the cabanas are only 10 meters away from the surf. Cleverly built (with bathroom in the basement), good mosquito net around the bed, super relaxed and helfpul staff. Biggest plus was te great setting of the cabanas between the palm trees, and the sea view. only beware: the beach right outside the cabana is too dangerous even for experienced swimmers like us. The closest safe beach was 20 minutes away with the scooter or tuktuk.

We stayed in a Beach Villa which I would really recommend for size, and the outdoor bathroom was really nice. You also get a nice bed outside the front of the villa which is great to relax on during the day, especially when you want a bit of shade! The beach is beautiful and quiet but sadly you can't swim in the sea as it's a bit rough. The hotel staff did tell us a place where we could swim, but it wasn't that clear and we would have really appreciated a map to show us. We had a super relaxing 3 days and the scenary was amazing. We ate in the restaurant in each night and the food was good with lots of variety. We felt there wasn't much atmosphere in the restaurant in the evenings and would benefit from some background music. We also felt we could have had some information in the rooms on activities to do in the local area or an introduction from staff; we felt we had to ask all the questions to learn about the area which was a shame.

An amazing Chalet with a bed room view of the Beach and the sea. Dinner and breakfast were really great, the Staff Team were very friendly and helpful. We arrived in paradise and didn‘t really want to leave. The View of the sea and Sound of the waves is mesmerizing. We want to come back some day.

Visited the Mangrove beach Chalets for the second time and had an amazing experience! The secluded beach and the food is the main reason we keep coming back to this gem of a place! From your first interaction from Nethmini at the front desk you know that you have picked the right place for your holiday! Chef Kusum whips up some world-class seafood dishes and salads! Ravindu and Prabath with their amazing hospitality make you feel right at home! Their warm and friendly service is the true definition of ‘Sri Lankan hospitality’ !! If a relaxed beach holiday is what you want then this is the place to visit! The beach is serene and clean! Don’t forgot to bring your snorkeling gear!

This was an excellent experience! The beach offered solitude and comfort. We were able to calm and slow down after long trip. The service was excellent. Lovely meals too! It offers opportunities for walks along the beach. The waves are soothing and allow you to meditate or read a book.

We had a really nice stay for 6 nights at a lovely cabana with a garden view. Our 2 years old daughter enjoyed the spacious garden and the beach. Manik and the team are really friendly and helpful people. The food is great and we ate here all days.
