This was my most unpleasant hotel experience in 3 years of living and traveling in Sweden.
We arrived late at night after a difficult drive — fog, rain, and moose on the road. I had called in advance to say we would be about 10 minutes late for check-in. The reply was cold, with no understanding or support.
When I arrived around 00:10 and approached the reception, I first showed my Ukrainian international passport. But that wasn’t enough — the staff member then asked for a visa. I had to go back to the car to find the documents.
I have a legal right to stay in Sweden under the EU Temporary Protection Directive for refugees, and in all my travels here, no hotel has ever asked for such documents at check-in — especially not in such a vulnerable moment, at night, after a stressful journey.
I honestly believe that if I were from an EU country like the Netherlands, showing a passport would have been enough. This felt like unnecessary suspicion and unequal treatment. Instead of basic hospitality, I was met with coldness and stress.
Very disappointing. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who values respectful and humane service.
The lobby and restaurant is also very stylish with plenty of space, yet gives a cozy atmosphere with lighting and a fireplace. The food at dinner was great, and there was a huge selection at breakfast. Something for everyone!
They even have a games room for kids to play foozeball or Ping pong. We didn’t have time to check out the pool, but we will be back next year!

This is the kind of hotel where i’m willing to drive an extra 75 km in order to come back.
Especially because of the personal at the reception.
The hotel was under construction but that does not mean anything if you are welcomed with a genuine smile and so much friendly faces.
Employee offered me a cup of coffee during check in, showed interest in the guests and showed maximum flexibility.
10-10.
With every future visit to the Dala region I’m coming back here.
