500 Rai Floating Resort in Khao Sok

The friendless, service, food, location…every experience there felt like paradise.

This is a top class hotel in the most stunning of surroundings. The food was excellent, as were the staff. The boat ride to and from is a little uncomfortable for us oldies but the scenery more than makes up for it and it's part of the experience. Took a day or two for the floating sensation to stop - but not an unpleasant sensation!!

We enjoyed three great nights at 500rai. The staff is gracious and friendly and speaks much better English than I’d anticipated based on the website. The food is really great. Breakfast consists of a menu of about 14 items: each person can choose two. Lunch was a large à la carte menu. For dinner, our package include a “set” menu: we could choose either the Thai side or the Western side and each came with an appetizer, choice of entree, and a dessert. We enjoyed everything we ate. We stayed in one of the standalone villas which was perfect for a couple but could theoretically sleep two more in the upstairs loft (kinda hot up there despite A/C). The room was very clean and comfortable and the views go on for days (true of every room). We barely felt movement unless a boat went by. Loved the villa. As for activities, a 3-night stay afforded us the opportunity to do a cave trek, the Tarzan hike, a wildlife safari and a morning cruise. We also had sufficient “off” time to explore on our own in the provided kayak, to swim in the lake and the pool, and to nap! I suppose if you cared only to see the views and experience the lake, a one-night stay could work. But to include any land activities you really need two or three nights. Finally this note: I was skeptical that we’d see any wildlife of note but we saw three species of monkeys, hornbills, an elephant!, and something that was either a tapir or a wild pig. Others at the resort saw bison. So much better wildlife viewing than we expected! We had an awesome time and highly recommend. Only glitch: I emailed Reservations 3 times in the two weeks prior to our arrival with some questions and got no response. One hiccup in an otherwise perfect stay.

The location is very beautiful and the hotel is nice. Staff were nice too the only issue I had was things that looked like poop that were floating around especially under the toilet. I’d come back again but I wouldn’t go on the water.

An idyllic getaway from the stress of normal life. Ultimate opportunity to relax without internet and phones. Perfect stay started from the stunning long boat trip through the national park. The staff were attentive and unassuming, the chefs cook the most wonderful, delicious food, and the breakfast is off the scale. We had the most wonderful time waking up to a stunning view and paddling off in our kayaks.

It’s all about the experience. Staying a couple of nights in this dream-like environment really is wonderful! Apart from the views - you won’t get tired to look over the lake from dawn to dusk, and even at night - we particularly appreciated the friendliness of all staff members and the different activities offered. If it hasn’t rained too hard before, don’t miss out on the waterfall hike. Food is very good as well, but everything comes with a price tag that seems a bit excessive. This is why I give only 4 stars. But if you are ready to pay the price, just go for it. I am sure you will never forget your stay for the rest of your life!
