Le Petit Pali at Ocean Ave, Carmel1 / 16

California, Carmel, Ocean And Junipero 🧭 Map
Great place but no air conditioning yet maybe after the rest model in November 17
Pros. New bathrooms, nice linens, helpful staff, great location Cons. Limited parking, threadbare rooms, limited breakfast. ( but great coffee)
Highlights: 1. Excellent location: a short walk from the beach and in the midst of restaurants, bars, beautiful boutiques and stores. 2. Decent rate: compared to other hotels/inns around Carmel-by-the-sea, Village Inn had very decent rate and included all facilities - 24-hour reception, complimentary breakfast, parking (limited) on-site, full bathroom and huge room. 3. 17-mile drive: starts a short...
This hotel is easy to find just off the main street and minutes from the highway. The anticipated weather forecast was rain so we weren't worried to much about the location as long as it was in Carmel. The hotel is easy walking distance to everything (stores and restaurants) and a very short walk to the beach. The room was small with a firm king size bed. The bathroom was updated and fresh/clean. There...
Clean, large rooms aren't anything fancy -location is the best feature of this hotel. Parking is a hassle in Carmel, so it was nice to simply park the car and walk around - breakfast was meh.
Clean rooms, very nice staff. I recommend it!

California, Carmel, Camino Real &, 8th Ave 🧭 Map
Our stay was beautiful! The hotel is stunning, with a friendly and attentive staff, eager to make your stay a happy one. The buffet breakfast with omelette and waffle station was fabulous. The hotel is an historical building so the rooms and bathrooms maintain the original footprint and size, which prohibited any enlargement of the very small bathroom. But given all the other perks La Playa offers...
Property is quite nice good location and good bones. Restaurant is nice. Food was great. Service at restaurant was great. Front Desk did not honor my reservation. Said it did not exist and was very difficult. Said call ******* and figure it out. Had to really escalate to just even stay there.
Free but not easy This is a lovely hotel, with the most attentive staff. Rooms and common areas are very well appointed and relaxing. The door to our room didn’t close tightly which was odd. Free parking and breakfast were included, except an expresso at breakfast was chargeable ($10) and there was a $60 ‘amenity’ charge added to the bill. These mixed messages put a cloud over an otherwise exceptional...
The amenities are well worth the fee. Loved the wine in the afternoons and cookies in the evening. Transportation to and from the downtown area was perfect since the are many hills in the area. The champagne breakfast was excellent - only suggestion would be to have protein available as stand alone item. If you want bacon or sausage it’s only available in the form of a breakfast burrito or omelette...
La Playa's location is great--close to the beach and can walk to Carmel's shopping area. The hotel's garden/outdoor area is gorgeous and the breakfast is fantastic!
Could not more highly recommend staying here while you’re in town. From the very moment we checked in we were greeted by the most kind staff who checked us in, and carried our bags to our room. Every single staff member during our stay was so thoughtful and kind and made our stay extra special. The property is stunning with views of the ocean around every corner! The location is central and very walkable...

Staff and accommodations were excellent. Location a few blocks from restaurants and shopping!
Here’s the good: breakfast, comfortable beds. Here’s the bad: lights outside of the room short the room all night, walls are thin- could hear snoring in the room next door, decor was not so great- plastic headboards, baths are old, carpet dirty.
Lovely location and staff. The courtyard is a perfect place to unwind at the end of the day.
The hotel amenities, location, design and staff were all great. Our room was small but functional (other room types were larger). Great proximity to Ocean Ave shops and restaurants. Excellent breakfast provided and the hot tub was a great addition.
We would definitely stay here again!! Adorable place, clean rooms, sweet courtyard is comfortable and warm. Love hanging out there, in and out of the room. The staff is friendly, the food delicious and the beverages as well.
Beautiful hotel in the charming downtown area of Carmel. Nice walk to restaurants, shopping and beach. Great hot tub and outdoor fireplace for relaxing.

Lovely Carmel views. Clean and comfortable room. Early checkin upon request. Staff was professional and friendly. The site was well maintained with lots of blooming flowering plants.
Carmel is a beautiful town and the hotel is in the town centre, so the location is perfect. Room was a little dated, but reasonably clean. On the night we arrived to check in, staff was super friendly and helpful. He gave us detailed instructions regarding our room and parking, also local restaurants recommendations. His service was a 5 star! On the morning of departure, we vacated the room and checked...
Cleanliness: The cleanliness was a bit lacking, with ants and spiders still present near the room door. Environment: Some floors offer access to small gardens, providing a casual and relaxing ambiance. Service: The front desk staff were eager to help resolve customer issues, showing patience and genuine warmth when welcoming guests. Facilities: The facilities are somewhat dated.
Room was very dated and there was a strange smell. Very clean though and tea/coffee machine in the room. Free hot drinks at reception too. Some noise from the room above and outside our room too. The place was central to everything and there’s a pool on site. We went for breakfast at 9am and lots of stuff had run out and not replenished. We asked if there was more bread but were told no!
A surprisingly good motel! Make sure to book a room with a balcony; it's very cozy and clean. This motel, being right in town, is a world apart from those you find on the highway. The front desk staff were very welcoming, and even said goodnight in Chinese – a really nice personal touch! 👍
The environment is excellent and very clean, plus it's conveniently close to the beach. It even comes with a gas fireplace, which was perfect given the significant temperature differences between morning and evening. Parking is free, and if the on-site lot fills up at night, there's plenty of street parking available.

Colonial Terrace Inn by the Sea, Carmel1 / 33

Great location is the USP. It's an old place but maintained well. Not very convenient if you have seniors with knee issues. Limited choice of breakfast. No kitchen / restaurant. We stayed in a 2BR suite with oceanview. It's their largest suite and it had a kitchenette with burners, microwave, mini fridge n few utensils. Other rooms don't have kitchenette. Our room had gas fireplace too.
My +1 and I spent a few days in Carmel, and decided to stay at the Colonial Terrace. In short, the grounds are beautiful, the room was cozy, and the staff was very accommodating. The location is only one street up from the beach, and a 5-10 minute walk to downtown. There is a pretty good hill you have to walk up if you take Ocean Avenue, but we thought being closer to the water was worth it. We decided...
Excellent location, great breakfast delivered to our room every morning. Property grounds are beautiful and staff is very helpful and nice. We are a family of 3 stayed 4 days in unit 26 overlooking the ocean. It was a very spacious suite. We will be back.
Great location one block from the ocean. The front desk has chairs and towels you can borrow for the beach which great. Lots of cute outdoor seating and a fireplace which was cool. Staff was very nice. Our room (queen courtyard view) could use an update but was good value for the price.
If you stay here in late Nov, walk down to the beach about 5:40 pm and catch the sunset. And grab a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie from the lobby on your way down.
You can order a picnic basket to go at the front desk!

We loved our stay here! Very nice staff. Super clean room. Perfect accommodations. Very close to everything. & even a small ocean view. Will definitely stay here again!
We'd stay again! Location and parking We were in the Cambridge Deluxe Family Cottage: Between the location, the dedicated parking spot, the exterior charm, two full bedrooms with doors, and the kitchenette, this place is a winner. I love when family spaces have two twin beads instead of another double or queen - so much better for kids. The kitchen was well equipped, the beds were comfortable, the...
It was good for the price. There as a lot of outside noise , you can hear people pulling up and unpacking their belongings
Manager Tiffany and front desk Jackie were very friendly and helpful, as was everyone else on the property. Room was comfortable and spacious, with nice and easy to operate fireplace and a bathtub. The fridge and coffeemaker were convenient. A small microwave could have made it even better.
You could hear conversations from room next door. Walls are too thin. People staying upstairs were awake all night long and could hear them would back and forth. Did not get good sleep
Not all rooms come with parking. Rooms with parking say so, when you are booking, so keep an eye out if that is a non starter. All parking in the immediate area is 2 hours during the day. It can be quite the walk to the car. Otherwise, it was a great place to stay and would do it again.

After coming to CCI for over 20 years, and at least 12 during Car Week, my positive reviews still hold. We’ve been seeing the same wonderful people during car week, and have even maintained friendships with many. This year, however, was different. Unfortunately, some regulars were unable to come, and there were a number of new people. My husband and I were appalled by the requests/demands made by these...
We loved staying here, rooms are spacious and comfortable. It is a sanctuary next to the Main Street in Carmel, butbehats best of all here is the people. It’s like having a home in Carmel.
We wanted to get away for 4 days and picked the perfect place for us to stay and to discover Carmel for the first time. Carmel Country Inn was in walking distance to everything. The staff treated us like family. They served a light breakfast but we opted to go out each morning. The inn provided fresh backed cookies and tons of to go snacks daily. Really appreciated the snacks. We stayed in the room...
A beautiful and quiet country hotel that blends in with nature! The hotel has lots of plants and flowers, is easy to find, has convenient parking, is pet-friendly and has waterproof mats and sheets for pets. The room is small, exquisite, comfortable and cozy, and the bathroom is large and well-equipped. The bed is large and comfortable, and the room is very clean and tidy. The hotel has its own parking...
Carmel Country Inn was perfect. The staff were so friendly. The room was very comfortable and we loved all the amenities. We will be returning for another visit.

I recently stayed at this hotel and had an incredible experience! When I arrived, I was greeted by a Panchel and attentive staff who made check-in a breeze. You are so lucky to have him. The level of service throughout my stay was exceptional—whether it was the housekeeping team, the concierge, or the restaurant staff, everyone went out of their way to ensure I was comfortable and well taken care of...
I love this place, I come here with my dad every year and I think the price is great for the room. We stay in the queen suite and love the two room 2 bathroom set-up. It’s a super close walk to all the restaurants in downtown Carmel and a short walk to the beach. Parking is on site and right around the hotel, I’ve never had an issue with that. There is also a local bar located just a few steps away...
Good location, free parking, friendly staff. We only stay 1 night but all is good
It's ok. I grew up in Carmel and stayed here recently for a wedding. This hotel was the most affordable I could find downtown that kept some Carmel charm. The location is incredible and the hotel's courtyard area is adorable. However, the hotel is missing some amenities that would be easy to upgrade. The towels had holes and stains. There is no conditioner or body wash or lotion offered. The room was...
Overall very happy especially for the price and location. I do agree that it's an older hotel but that made me feel okay coming back into the room with sandy feet, mattress isn't 5 stars but at least it was a proper king since we have 2 dogs (been lied to a handful of times in the past few years and it makes a difference!) checkout was very nice process as I'm always running 15 minutes behind and they...
This is a nice, quiet Inn. It is not far from Ocean Ave or the beach, but nothing really is when you stay in Carmel-by the - Sea. The people at the front desk were polite and checked me in with ease, but they did not do much more than that, so average, in my opinion. The rooms are a little dated, and the bedding was not all that comfortable. Again, it's not bad for what we paid, but it could be better...

Charming inn with lots of character. It’s expensive for a place to sleep. Clean but not very comfortable. An easy stroll to the beach. Front desk was never manned and staff were not wearing masks in the kitchen around the food.
This might have been the most comfortable night of sleep I’ve ever had. Picture this: windows open, light breeze, you can hear the ocean, and sleeping on quite possibly the softest bed I’ve ever used. In the morning, you’ll have an incredible quiche and croissant breakfast served by delightful staff. 10/10 would recommend. Oh, you also have a view of the ocean and it’s only a 2 minute walk to the...
Amazing, cozy little place. Very home like with amazing staff. They make sure you feel right at home and do their best to make sure you're comfortable. Although the best part is the breakfast with hand prepared dishes and self serve coffee, orange juice, milk, yogurt, etc. Also, it's walking distance to the beach and you can hear the waves crashing from the front door! Definitely a romantic place...
Beautiful property and house. It's in a quiet area.
We like the location, close to the beach. Love the breakfast and building. Service was so so for us, lack of service upon arrival at 6:30pm (had to look around the property for a staff to open the front door). WiFi was terrible for us given we are in the back building, so had to go to the common area ( this was a huge disappointment)
Close to the beach, spacious and comfortable room, and great service. Highly recommend

What a dreamy experience staying at Edgemere Cottages. The location, the setting, the curated cabin, the scrumptious goodies Gretchen had available? I'm half hesitant to share this gem with the world, but, alas, I suspect it's not so hidden - and credit is certainly due. This place was all-around awesome! We stayed in the Devon cottage, and couldn't have been happier. You'll never want to leave! There...
We loved our stay at the fairytale cottage, “Devon” with a bit of an ocean view. We could hear the waves at night with the windows open. Lucky for us there was a full moon during our stay and we awoke in the middle of the night to see the moon through the skylight over the bed. The kitchenette was stocked with yogurt, fresh fruit, lemon poppyseed loaf, fresh-baked cookies and coffee with mints at...
I stayed here with my husband and three small children. We appreciated the fresh home-baked goods, comfortable beds, and cozy atmosphere of the cottage, but the space is incredibly small and left us all feeling a bit claustrophobic. The location is superb, which is why we chose it - very quiet, in a sweet garden, at the far end of the Carmel beach, just one block from the waves crashing. But for this...
Best place to stay in Carmel! The hosts are kind and helpful. They even made us delicious home made cookies and bannana bread. The cottages are cute and perfect. Great little kitchen and clean and comfy beds. The garden like grounds are full of beautiful plants and it is only a block to the beautiful Carmel beach.
I can't believe it's taken me this long to post a review! My husband and I absolutely LOVED our stay in these quaint cottages by the sea. They were everything I had hoped for, the breakfasts were fantastic (thanks for the recipe, Gretchen!) and the service (Gretchen and staff) was amazing and helpful. Never felt so comfortable or at home away from home. And this is a deal compared to other cottages...
