The valet attendants were especially friendly, fun, and greeted us professionally yet with a personal engaging welcome upon departing and arriving many times a day.
The restaurant food was very good and we quickly made friends with the servers and bartenders.
We made use of the pool and the gym daily. Both areas were clean and spotless.
We really enjoyed our stay!
We will be booking our next stay at the Renaissance.
members from the the valet staff, who were also so kind to us. I believe their names were Chris and Alex, I hope I got their names right! Your valet team are the first group of people your guests interact with and they do a fantastic job welcoming us to a hospitable stay!
Restaurant food not good and overprice. Not seasoned, same experience at breakfast. $28 for an omelette?
I asked for a rice bowl with white rice and shrimp .. got brown rice and chicken .. by the time I realized I was already at the room.
I did not rest and did not enjoy this hotel at all.
As a Marriott Ambassador Elite member who spends well over 125 nights a year in Marriott properties, I expect a certain standard of service, professionalism, and accountability. Unfortunately, my recent experience at the Renaissance Newport Beach Hotel was profoundly disappointing.
While the hotel’s location is convenient and the room itself was comfortable, my stay was ultimately overshadowed by the theft of a Rolex watch. After realizing the item was missing shortly after checkout, I immediately contacted hotel management. I described exactly where the watch had been left — its specific positioning within a particular area of the room — to assist with recovery. Despite providing this detailed information, the response I received was completely inadequate and took nearly 24 hours to speak with management after calling and asking to speak with management multiple times.
Rather than conducting a thorough investigation or offering meaningful assistance, management essentially accepted an employee’s simple denial — “I didn’t take it or find it” — and considered the matter closed. There was no escalation, no genuine investigation, and no demonstration of concern for a loyal guest who trusted the property with high-value personal belongings.
Given my longstanding loyalty to the Marriott brand, I found the hotel’s lack of urgency and ownership to be completely unacceptable. Travelers should feel confident that their belongings are safe and that management will act responsibly if an issue arises. Sadly, that was not my experience here.
While I would have liked to highlight the positives of my stay, the way this situation was handled leaves me unable to recommend the Renaissance Newport Beach Hotel — particularly for guests traveling with valuables. Marriott’s reputation is built on trust, and in this case, that trust was broken.

Loved their rolls and also the edamame. Mochi ice cream was just ok but overall a very pleasant experience. Not very cheap but worth it.
I've come here for business meeting lunches, happy hour, but most often I'm realizing I actually go by myself some Friday's after work. Perhaps because it's 5 minutes form home and work, always top notch, but also it's not the friendliest spot. Running high pressure sales rooms, sometimes I like to just sit in peace and clear my head not have people bothering me. If my voice is soar from pitching, I don't want to make inane conversation with the chef and make it worse.
I would not intentionally disregard social conventions and niceties, in the interest of civility if the situation were to merit it I would give up my silent peace. The chefs I have are generally for whatever reason completely unconcerned, perhaps because of the late hours I am seeing them at the beginning of their longest hardest shift. There is a certain 'houselights are up' sort of feeling like the people are primarily there to setup for the main event, and are OK with letting you eat during rehearsals. Just a theory, but fortunately whatever the circumstance, the consequence is that I don't feel the pressure I might at more familiar spots. It's an odd compliment to be sure, but everything has it's place and silence is not easy to find in a restaurant in the financial district.
The appetizers are top 5 in the city, and so is the sushi. It's probably expensive but happy hour must be good as I don't recall after having been dozens of times. They often have bluefin which is a plus, and their sake selection is impressive, spanning a wide range of prices and styles, something great in every tier.
Ten is is among my favorite Orange County sushi spots. Above all, it is consistent. The last piece of salmon I had was almost indistinguishable in every way from my first here.
The club is ridiculous. I would go kicking and screaming and then still sneak away if people were to drag me here. Bottle service for $1000 guarantees well, you pick the word-I'm not going to say it...
