The Palms of Destin in Destin

Condo #2608. We were there for a little over 2 months. Pots and pans looked like they came from a homeless encampment. We ended up buying our own. The pool was closed (we were not notified of this). They actually entered the condo without our permission while we were gone. I could go one……it’s just not worth it!!!

Great pool and restaurant, poor unit. My daughter booked a family trip in unit 1905 that was anything but comfortable. This junior suite was dirty. Kitchen utensils, walls, and door handles were sticky, dirty or stained. The beds were so uncomfortable on the full bunks we had back aches and could not rest. There was no storage for clothing in the jr room with the exception of a small closet in what seemed more like a storage area than an actual bedroom suite. The closet was filled with construction and cleaning supplies. The other closet contained the washer and dryer. The shower had an overhead exposed light without a covering or dome. I am certain that it is a building code violation. The entire junior room lacked quality construction. The barn style door provides no sound barrier for a restful sleep. None of the furnishings were quality or durable enough for frequent use throughout the unit and the chairs on the balcony did not provide any relaxation either. The back of the chairs were low- non supporting and there were no loungers. I was extremely disappointed because at first glance the resort seemed like a very nice place. I was also upset that my daughter wasn’t getting the value for her money. She really plans great trips for our family and everything about this trip was great until we returned to our room to rest. I was going to complain however, after reading previous reviews while there, I realized that Compass is aware of the poor quality and they just don’t care. We travel to Destin often. I personally will not stay at The Palms again.

Almost ruined our spring break!!!!
Condo was invested with mold! Had to wait hours before a property manager would come out and look at the room. The front desk told us this was a known issue and they’ve had several complaints!! Unsure why they are continuing to rent this property without fixing the known water leak issue under the refrigerator

The condo 1309 had a very strong smell of cigarette smoke, in fact, it had smelled like it had been smoked in for years! It was so strong it was giving us headaches! After visiting the front desk multiple times, they did provide an air purifier, but the smell was still there. When I asked if they could move us to another condo, they said they were full. The lights keep flickering every time we would turn on the washer/dryer and oven. We brought these to the attention of compass resorts, and then follow through with getting back to us in a timely manner was less than appealing. The linens and the mattress in the master bedroom were worn out and needed to be replaced. The bed was super uncomfortable! The couch was stained and had rips in the upholstery. The dryer do not dry clothes. I would have to put a very small load on three times for our items to be dry. The baseboards were dirty, and in some places missing in the unit. We have stayed at the palms before, renting from a private party, and we had an amazing experience, however, I cannot say the same about this one. After spending nearly half our vacation trying to fix their problems, they only offered us a tiny refund! I would have expected more for all the problems of this unit! I would not recommend staying in this unit or renting a unit with compass resorts!
