Spruce Point Inn in Boothbay Harbor

This is a difficult review for me to leave. I have been thinking for over a week of how to best communicate my experience so here it goes. I’ll start with a couple complaints: I don’t think the website or their property map communicated effectively about all the cabins and lodges being ALL pet rooms. And only the main inn was pet free. So, because our cabin room was connected to two other rooms we were almost surrounded by noisy, barking dogs. In addition, the one other room would leave their dog alone in the room at night and the dogs would bark and whine and run back and forth thru the room, until after 9pm. I have 3 separate discussions with the lobby staff, and only one staff offered that WE MOVE TO A SMALL room on 3rd floor of the inn. No one ever offered to distrust the other guests plans or even have a talk with them. The one staff member sharply told me that I should have read the website and picked a different room. Also, the bikes we saw were broken and not rideable with broken seats and chains hanging off. But again, rude guests were hoarding more decent bicycles by their cabins instead of sharing while they were not in use. Now for a positive or two, house keeping picked up our trash daily and made the bed and brought fresh towels but no sweeping the carpet during a weeks stay. Also the location is lovely and a nice walk to the harbor. We did not eat at the Inn. And the boat tour with Bright Line was wonderful. It was definitely overall a nice place to stay but doubtful I’ll come back due to the dog problem. It appears that these other guests thought they were the only ones entitled to enjoy their vacation with no regard for my family paying the same price and expecting to have a nice relaxing vacation.

Room was large and clean. Last updated quite some time ago. Bathroom enormous but no shelf in shower and shower plumbing from 1975. Not interested in spa. Every one was nice but no way to get ice. Old packets with powdered cream and saccharine…yuck! No smart TV. Path to parking lot poorly lit and moldy.
Felt kinda sad. Like a highway motel but extra large.
Area at spruce point and Boothbay beautiful.
Rate as meh but rained or was cloudy the 2 days we were there.
