I really enjoyed my stay at Gorge View Hostel in upstate New York. Throughout my time there, the owner was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. He was a wonderful source of information about the area, which helped me make the most of my visit to the falls. Since it was my first time staying in a hostel, I was a little nervous at first, but he immediately put me at ease. I really appreciated how available he was and how he listened to and validated my concerns. That made a big difference for me. The hostel itself is housed in a beautiful old building spread over three stories. There’s a generously sized common area and a well-equipped kitchen with everything you need to cook for yourself. I found these spaces very clean and comfortable, and they helped me feel relaxed and at home. The location is also hard to beat, especially at this price point. It’s close to bus services and the free shuttle that takes you to the nearby gorge walks, just a few kilometers from the main falls. It’s also within walking distance of both the American and Canadian falls. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe walking around the area, even at night. Overall, I had a wonderful stay and would certainly recommend Gorge View Hostel to anyone visiting Niagara Falls.

This is a privately owned hostel and it shows. Hostels run by organisations like HI are absolute top notch. Gorge View is a few notches down. There is parking for about 10 cars so that is good, the premises are a large house that has been turned into multiple rooms for bunk beds. The kitchen and dining area appears to be the only common area inside. There is no TV and Wifi is very slow. There are a few board games but as far as entertainment goes that’s all. The room I was in had 4 beds with an extra 2 beds in a side room. There is 1 toilet for all room members, 1 sink and 1 shower. The bedding was spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable but very creaky. There are good sized lockers for each bed, supply your own lock. The kitchen has a cooker, oven and microwave and various cooking equipment. There is a hodgepodge of random crockery and cutlery but there seemed to be enough. The kitchen and common area were a bit grubby with sticky surfaces. The manager/owner was pleasant enough giving good advice about what to see at the falls, check in was easy, check out, just leave your key in the box by the locked office. For the price I paid ($45 direct) it was a bargain, it is a 15 minute walk to views of the falls, and further down 3rd st are a few restaurants and liquor shop. If you don’t mind it a cheap, a bit rough and ready then this is the place to go.

This is a great hostel within walking distance to most of the attractions. The trolley, bus and shuttle are all within a 5 minute walk. I originally only booked a room for one night, not expecting to have much to see aside from the falls, but I ended up staying from Friday to Monday and still hope to come back to do more of the trails and sightseeing. There is a lot to do and the Gorge view is in a very comfortable location; close to anything one might need.

There is a bus a free bus called "Discovery Bus" which takes passengers as far out as the old fort and to some small towns and other attractions in between. This bus picks up by the aquarium (directly across the street form the Gorge view).

I almost neglected going on the Gorge trail (also across the street from the Gorge) I am so happy that I decided to do this trail. It is only about a mile long, but has much to offer.

The owner is very helpful and welcoming. The space is updated, clean, and overall comfortable. The bed was comfortable, air conditioning worked well in the summer, bathroom very nice and clean. It's right next to a bridge to the falls, which is super convenient. The only thing to watch out for is that it's right next to a sketchy area, so stick to the touristy parts.

Excellent location, just 10 minutes from the border to Canada, 15 minutes to the Niagara falls. Across the road there is park wick you can walk by the river and get a view of the rainbow bridge, great for seeing the fireworks display at night just across the road, the receptionist advised for the best spot with not many people. Free parking, clean beds and common areas, plugs near the bed, good size room, safe area to walk at night, quiet to have a good night sleep, nice kitchen, big common area with sofa, tables and chairs, good for meeting new people, good vibes. Would stay here again.

Personally, I hate dorms because I am a bad sleeper, and only book them when I visit extremely expensive countries, so I was positively surprised with this hostel. A bit of a walk from downtown, which was ok for me. The house and neighbourhood are beautiful. The owner has bought this property and this is basically his job/retirement plan, so he minds the business on his own - I agree, a massive task. He may have some weird tirade (which could sound a bit harsh) for those expecting flowers and smiles. The building has high stairs. And if your bedroom toilet is taken by another dorm guest, you're stuck until they are finished doing their business...

Location is good. Friendly people. Very spacious room. The reason for the 3 stars is that during our stay on Sep 30, 2017 , the heater wouldn't work and I was informed that heating works only from Oct 15. It was 40s outside and the room became very cold.

When we pulled up to this, we was really surprised at how close it is. It is literally right across the street from the aquarium. The park is a quick two minute drive. You could not ask to be any closer. The price was really reasonable. I booked a queen room with bunk beds and boy was I surprised by the room. I felt like we had our own little apartment. The rooms were huge. The worst part about this place was if you are the first person to take a shower I’m the morning or the hot water is not being used much throughout the day, it did take forever for the water to get hot, at least five minutes. The common kitchen and dining area had all the necessities to cook and eat. The toaster doesn’t work very well, but that’s only because we like to toast both sides of our bread at a time and not just one.

The host was super helpful about places to eat or hidden gems must sees. He definitely knows what’s what.

Bottom line, I would highly recommend staying here no matter what your budget is.

The owner was very kind and courteous. Gave me a lot of good suggestions of where to go before a blizzard hit, trapping both me and one other. He checked up on us and even brought lasagna since it was so difficult going out. Extremely kind owner and wonderful stay.

I do not recommend at all this place and above all the receptionist guy. He was dishonest arrogant by phone and without no reason cancelled our booking 30 minutes before check-in. We confirm the other bad comments, they are totaly true.
Employeurs, if someone write on his cv, worked at the reception of the gorge view hostel, just be aware about his consideration of customers.
PS. Hey dude, if you do not like people just change your job. It s the 21 century, we can do many things, try many jobs. For sure you ll be happier. Good luck man!
