Reviews
We went for a 2 day hike in mid of februqry and homestay with sapa sisters and tam homestay. Our guide was zao and
- beautiful hikes seeing buffalos, bamboo forest and rice terraces
- interesting facts about the local tribes and culture and plants
- good English speaking guides
- delicious food on the way with western friendly options if needed
- clean and incredibly comfortable home. I have to say tam (our host) made a lot and delicious food and we also "helped" a little doing some spring rolls. She is also very friendly, welcoming and funny person.
Thank you for the great experience and wish you guys the best :)
I would go with no other company other than Sapa Sisters. Their mission to economically empower Hmong women is inspiring. You’ll learn about the culture a lot from your guide and home stays. Our accommodation was super comfortable in Tan Van and the village was so cute and very tourist / expat friendly though not overly so like Sapa! Tung was our sweet guide and share shared us her story which is both heart breaking and a reminder why it’s important as tourists to be mindful about what businesses you should support! Her story was why I chose Sapa Sisters because many women are very economically disenfranchised in Hmong society which is highly patriarchal.
More about the experience - it is very customizable and I also recommend the batik class! It was so fun and we got to take home a memory from the trip. The home stays were comfortable and western friendly - hot showers, comfortable beds, with fast wifi. The view from our private bungalow (upgrade) was worth it!! The terrain in sapa changed seemingly daily. We saw rice paddies, bamboo forests, towns that looked straight from a Miyazaki film, and also local wildlife.
I highly recommend this experience 1000 times over. I’m an experienced trekker and I think this is a great first time trek because it’s not too hard on the knees and there are western accommodations throughout your trip. You’ll take so much with you!
Even before my departure, they supported me with great organization and kindness, answering all my questions and providing all the information I needed to prepare properly.
During the trek I was very lucky and ended up having a guide all to myself.
My guide, Su Ly, was absolutely amazing. She accompanied me with patience, warmth, and kindness, helping me discover the different villages, traditions, and customs of the area.
On the first night, I stayed at her home, which has a stunning view of the rice terraces—one I will never forget in my life.
Su Ly took excellent care of me and made sure I had everything I needed at all times.
I highly recommend choosing Sapa Sisters for your trek: it’s a meaningful project that truly deserves support.
