Grand Hotel Abkhaziya in Gagra

The Abkhazia Hotel is located on the beachfront, with a beautiful view from the window—that's probably all the positives. The rooms are very small, with a huge bed that can only be accessed from one side. Cleaning is impractical, so the maid only vacuums the narrow passageway. There are no beach towels, and they're changed only upon request. There's only one elevator for the entire hotel, and there's always a line. All the guests get rotavirus, they say it's from overseas, but it's due to the unsanitary conditions. Overall, I'm not thrilled.

We stayed in November for 12 days. It all started with check-in. The girls weren't very polite, I understand they were tired, but... they gave us a room on the 11th floor, where they live. Back down again, with suitcases and a child, they give us another one, there were renovations going on. Down again. It happened on the third try. In 12 days, they didn't change the towels even once. Everything was turned off. The lights were okay, we got used to it. There was no water. And they say we're sick and tired. And then there's the fire alarm at 11 PM. Funny. The dining room is on the 15th floor. Lots of people, 2 elevators for 4 people. They can't cope. In the dining room, there's chicory, tea, and the same drink. The water in the pool is cold, well, yes, they turned off the water, but... and with all this, they don't forgive us, they don't apologize.

I have one very serious complaint about the hotel. I've been waiting a long time to write a review, hoping they'd fix the problem, but no one seems to care. We specifically booked a hotel with a heated pool in the fall, which was our main criterion when choosing a hotel, but it turns out there's no heating. The receptionists just shrug their shoulders, saying we're waiting for a repairman, waiting for a part, blah blah blah, just to stall for time until dissatisfied guests leave...
I think this is unacceptable. If you claim there's heating, please provide it and resolve the issue promptly, instead of citing all sorts of nonsense!
If the problem is resolved, I'll delete this review...if it remains, you know how they handle this issue here...nothing! Go swimming in cold water in November!

We rested with a child and a family sister from August 26 to September 03, 2022. My son and I had the smallest room, 8 nights - 68,000 rubles, a view from the window to the sea and mountains, our own beach, there were enough sunbeds for everyone, but you have to try to take places in 1-2 rows. There are a lot of people. Everyone had been ill with rotavirus. A three-year-old nephew never recovered before his departure. They took him to a local hospital .. that’s a different story altogether ... doctors work for days, there are more people in the queue than on the beach, in the treatment room there is one half-dim light bulb of Ilyich, while you don't give money to anyone, you don't need anything ...
I will add more so that the review does not seem negative. The room is cleaned every day, hygiene items are given as needed. Three days later I asked to replace bed linen and towels, they replaced it immediately.
There is a lot of food in the dining room, in principle, there was everything, but I didn’t like the kitchen ... for example, porridge, there is practically no milk in it and the consistency is very liquid, with undigested cereals, soups are not tasty, there is a lot of meat, but cooked carelessly. Incomprehensible biscuits for tea ... completely inedible, and the same ones ... The child liked it, every evening an animator worked with the children, the young man immediately fell in love with the children. Not thrilled, but not disappointed either. I would also like to add that there are a lot of mosquitoes, they just swarm if the window is opened at night

There is something to strive for. Interruptions happened with TV, with wi-fi, with water. Breakfast could be tastier. Tables are inconveniently placed in the dining area. Most of the staff are great, there are a couple of exceptions, especially on the beach. There is no drinking water, you have to buy it. The park is beautiful with swings. The pool is warm and everything is fine. Shops, cafes, pharmacies close. The promenade and the beach are even closer.
