Dreamtime Travellers Rest Hostel in Cairns

I have stayed in 9 hostels in Cairns, and this is the best one. I’ll break it down point by point:

1. In most hostels, there is only one kitchen, so sometimes you have to wait a long time to cook. In this hostel, there are three kitchens — two big ones and one small one. If you’re an introvert, you can use the small kitchen; if you’re a social person, the big kitchens are perfect.

2. The staff keep the kitchen very clean, and every guest must write their name on their food. Otherwise, every Wednesday the staff clean out unnamed food from the fridge. This system keeps the fridge clean and ensures there is always space.

3. There are four bathrooms, and each one has a small hanging chair/shelf to put your belongings, which is very comfortable and convenient. Every bathroom has a mirror, which is very important, especially for women. The bathrooms are also very clean.

4. The maximum capacity in each room is only 4 people, and the room smells fresh. I’m very picky about rooms because I know some hostels don’t care about keeping the rooms smelling clean and fresh.

5. The common areas are also very clean and well maintained

6. Swimming pools not so big but enough to swim for 3-5 people at the same time ☺️

I stay here 2.5weeks & really recommend to stay thereee ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I enjoyed my stay here; the staff were friendly, and the people who lived there were too.
What I didn't like was that they charged for air conditioning. I don't usually use cash, and one night I ran out of coins and had to sleep with the midsummer heat suffocating me.
I stayed in four hostels during my time in Cairns, and this was the only one that did that.

Great experience here! Ended up staying for a week and it was so nice. Really great set up, clean, homely, and really comfortable everywhere you sat. Couldn’t recommend it enough.

We had a great time here. The price is okay. Everything was really clean, what is really important to me. The quality of the beds could be a bit better. They matrasses are a bit thin. The owners are handsome. It is quiet at night. The location is great, close to the trainstation (and our dive centre). So in total everything was great! 1 star les for the quality of the beds and maybe and maybe the price can be a little lower :) i should say: go here.

It is comfortable with sufficient services. It is close to the downtown area and there are no bad points. The bathroom and toilet are shared, but they are kept clean. You can enjoy your own time quietly at night.

Superb! Excellent room with AC! Was spotless and loved the heritage style- had so much character! Bathroom also best I have ever seen in a hostel- spotless! The owner was very pleasant and let is store our cases in the store whilst we went on an overnight dive trip! Thanks!!

It was a very cozy hostel. The mixed share rooms have individual beds instead of bunk beds, so you don't have to disturb someone else's sleep, which is a big plus! The owner is a very calm and kind person, and he starts by giving us a thorough tour of the surrounding area and the hostel. There is a garden and a pool, and the kitchen is equipped with salt, pepper, and oil, and we could drink tea and coffee freely. It was also nice that we didn't have to buy a few condiments just to cook for ourselves for a few nights. The people staying there were friendly, and it's been a while since I've come across such a cozy hostel. I'd like to use it again when I visit Cairns! I really recommend it to everyone!

This is one of the best Hostels I have ever stayed. Clean, spacious and great location. Nothing is too much trouble for Peter the Host. His recommendations regarding tours were spot on. The gardens and pool exude a mood of peace and tranquility. A very special place

I stayed at Travellers Paradise Guest House for 9 nights and it was wonderful! Peter is very friendly and accommodating, always up for a chat. The place was always clean (were there magical fairies that cleaned while we slept?!?) Bathrooms and kitchen were in great condition. Honestly could not fault the place, would stay again!
