There have been over the top toxic reviews of this place a while ago when now it’s a very good affordable motel room. Nothing wrong with it. Pristine cleanliness, an excellent manager, cold air con, fab outside balcony, even buscuits with the coffee and a bath to soak in. And so cheaper than similar motels. I visit cairns often and this will be my new motel to stay in.

Great room for stop over or a few days. Secure parking is a bonus. Rooms are clean and bathroom is dated but useable. Bed was comfortable. No noise outside after pool closed on time. Late check in instructions very clear and precise and had no trouble self checking in. Have stayed here many times.

Ants everywhere throughout the room
Pools were not accessible and the key to the room didn’t work

I felt very unsafe. Room I was very old mould in shower, couch filthy stain carpet soiled.
Key in lock box with other keys can these sort of keys be copied? Even with extra
Lock on door I felt very unsafe. I went to a different hotel straight away.

The bathroom and toilet were extremely small, the property was very dirty.

Low cost, clean accomodation.
Great position, clean room with clean linen. Kitchenette with microwave and electric jug.
A bedspread or bed cover would have been appreciated. Security gate locked at 10pm so after returning from a concert our car had to remain on the street for the night.
Overall a clean, low cost accomodation option close to the hospital and esplanade.

Wouldn't stay here again has the Lady at the Service desk was rude & the customer service wasn't good, bathroom wasn't really cleaned properly.

Relatively cheap but very old and dated. Exterior building needs urgent clean (paths moldy and unsafe to walk on in rain) and urgent garden maintenance. Rooms good size and close to hospital.

Charged us $90, we had about half a plate of tastless food each. Extremely bad customer service and rude managment. When we asked for a partial refund the owner became extremely agressive. We were celebrating our anniversary and it put a damper on things. :(

We came here a year ago and the seafood buffet included fresh prawns crabs mussels now when we came here there was old texture prawns with black or no heads. We are very unimpressed on the meal we had.

Have always loved Charlie's, it was always a must do whenever visiting Cairns, sadly, after tonight's experience I won't ever be back and I certainly will not be recommending you to ANYONE!!
Non-existent table service.
Uninterested wait staff who had to be prompted to clear tables.
Frozen prawns of questionable edibility.
Empty food trays in the buffet (in stark contrast) the American groups private function was extremely well catered for).
Individual complaints from a number of dining parties fell on the deaf ears of your staff, in fact I got the distinct impression they just didn't care. Only when a group of about 6 individual dining parties approached management together was there any attempt to rectify the situation with you refunding each diner half their bill, quite a pathetic gesture considering just how piss poor the food, service and overall staff/management attitudes were!!

Very disappointed. Having loved and raved about Charlie's for over 20 years, we had the opportunity to take an overseas friend there for dinner. Talking the place up to our friend, we got there to find that the price had gone up. $35 for an all you can eat...ok. Prawns were small, crab meat was rock hard and hard to eat, buffet was dry and over cooked, greens had turned brown, $12 jug of lemon, lime n bitters tasted like mineral water. Got up for dessert and a cuppa, no hot water for a cup of tea, old jug of coffee on the table and milk was left to sit on the side (not good in summer in Cairns) and at 8:20pm we were told that the buffet was now closing and we wouldn't be able to have anything else. Extremely disappointed in every aspect, no table service ... after over 20 years, we won't be going back there. Overrated and overpriced.

We had two steaks and a serve of ribs. All were perfectly cooked and had great charcoal flavours. I liked that meals come with mash or chips plus a good size salad. No extra for sides so it was great value at around $30 for a Rib Eye or Fillet steak and a good serve of ribs. No entrees or dessert needed and wine @$30 a bottle. Service was very friendly. Highly recommended!

My medium rare steak is tougher than my friend's medium well one. Also gave me jaw pain afterwards. Wouldn't recommend as you'll have to gamble and see if you get a tough one or not.

The worst meal we have had in a long time ! Ribs were cold inside and the sauce was bitter ! Extremely disappointed .

Beautiful meal tonight. Steak was cooked beautifully and the pumpkin, spinach and ricotta filo with tomato and onion salsa was seasoned perfectly. Well done to Monica and Virginia who both provided great service. Will be back again!
