Here is the review for Cascade Gardens Holiday Apartments:

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The rooms are very large—they are actually full apartments with a spacious and clean layout. We especially appreciated having a fully equipped kitchen, a washing machine, and a dishwasher, which made our stay very comfortable.

The location is excellent, only about 300m from the Esplanade. While we had a nice view from our unit, be aware that there is no elevator, so it was a bit of a workout carrying our suitcases up. Also, keep in mind that they don't provide cosmetics like shower gel or shampoo, so you'll need to bring your own. Overall, it was a really good stay with no issues at all.

Truly awful. I am no stranger to a budget hotel but as a minimum I expect them to be clean and relatively well maintained. This place was neither of those things. I think it is the dirtiest hotel I have stayed in anywhere in the world. There were stains, rusted tea/coffee pots, rust on the fittings in the bathroom, dirty mats in the kitchen, black dirt on the walls and ceiling, dirty shelves in the wardrobe, dust in all the corners and the skirting boards were coming away from the walls. When I raised it with the owner he denied that there was anything wrong with the room - that tells you everything you need to know about his standards. I very rarely leave bad reviews but as a solo female traveller I really do feel the need to warn others off this place. It’s also quite far from the esplanade and doesn’t feel like a safe area, you have to get Ubers around. Spend the uber money on a decent hotel on the seafront and avoid this place.

The staff was courteous, the room was large with a well-equiped kitchen, and the location is just 2 blocks from the lagoon boardwalk.

We stayed at the studio of this service apartment and we found the bed to be lumpy. On my side it was sagging . The bed also had bedbugs.The apartment itself was dirty and cobwebs with a spider on the windows. The bathroom door had black electrical tape to keep door together on the bottom caused by steam and ceiling had bubbles. No ventilation. They only supply enough tea, coffee, sugar, toilet paper for your stay. If run out, you have to supply own. Towels and sheets not changed during a 7 day stay. But if requested they give you extra towels. Won't be staying here again and recommend that you don't either.

A nearly perfect place to stay with an excellent location and environment. The only minor drawback is the lack of an elevator; everything else was perfect.

Staff were lovely, we liked that it was a family run business. The pool area is great to chill and relax. The photos don’t do this place justice, it’s so much nicer than the photos. Our apartment was spacious and it had everything you needed for a self catering stay.

My only downside was, the shower was broken on our first day and it never got fixed. We were unable to have a proper shower the entire time we were there. We were told maintenance would fix it, but they never did.

Generally everything great. The clothes drier had a mechanical problem so could not use it. Would have liked shampoo in the shower.

Arrived on a night flight and was bitten by a bed bug, found brown stains on sheets and lots of hair. I called the owner who was aggressive and swore at me on the phone. The housekeeping manager was kind the next day and changed the sheets and treated the bed for bed bugs.

The mattress was extremely uncomfortable, rooms very dated and overall cleanliness of a low standard. The toilet constantly ran. It was a disappointing stay.

Stay at a hostel or pay extra to stay somewhere more decent.

Salmon sashimi was of inconsistent poor cuts. I'm sure there are some tastey items on their menu for a great price but I can't vouch for them, my experience was disappointing.
