The Grand Old Duke in Hobart

We will not return to this restaurant again. Not only was the food sub standard so was the service and the atmosphere.
They have an open style kitchen and the chef was swearing at the top of his voice to other staff members. We were sat next to a table of drunken sailors who were clearly beyond intoxicated and continued to be served shots and spirits. They were loud, foul mouthed and obnoxious absolutely perfect people to sit a family next to that have taken their 12 year old out for his birthday with other small kids. So thanks Shipwrights Arms for teaching our kids a whole new vocabulary.
The food was a joke. The menu read stuffed chicken breast served with garlic mash. What came out werr two small rubbery pieces of grilled chicken and some re fried potato wedges. When the server was asked about the error she told us that the menu was wrong. Ummm hang on what? The menu is wrong? Why not mention that when we order. Hi sorry guys the meals will be nothing as described on the menu.
I had the fish of the day which was salmon, it was overcooked and again served with refried potato wedges that had unsuccessfully been attempted to be turned into potato salad (perhaps too many potatoes left over from Christmas?). This went on around the table, salt and peppper squid that tasted only of flour, pieces of fish in fish and chips that were tiny.
We asked to be moved several times with no empathy from staff.
I rang the establishment the followong day to try and leave some feedback with the manager I was told he was busy bitbthat tje license holder would return my call. It hasn't happened. They arent interested. And we arent interested in ever returning.

Food was nice, but the service was appalling. Waited 20 minutes for a coffee and even longer for the food. Seriously wanted to walk. Wished we'd gone back to the 'Retro Cafe' from the day before

Below Average. Meal looked like it had been pre cooked and has stood around for ages. Taste was not as good either. Asked for some chillies and told it would come with the meal - it never came! Would not go back!
