Hotel Stern in Laengenfeld

This is a Gasthof of family-owned guest house, not a hotel.

They should have said they were a Jewish hotel. The Jewish paraphernalia had gone overboard, it was like wearing a "I am gay" T-shirt or like stepping into the room of a pre-pubescent teenager with heavy metal and rock band posters everywhere. Not everyone appreciates it.

Although we arrived late - at around 10pm, we wanted to have a look at the sauna which was supposed to be the highlight of our stay. However, we were told that sauna would open at 3pm the next day when we were obviously checking out first thing in the morning.

There was no one at the reception when we arrived. And it took a good 20 minutes of pacing up and down frantically to find any staff without avail until a kind French lady who was a hotel guest told us to look in the kitchen for the owner.

When we checked in, the hotel owner insisted on my husband writing down my name and age. It made me feel like I was some kind of unwanted guest or Chinese prostitute when I was probably more decent and educated than these hillbillies.

It is unacceptable to call yourself a hotel, let alone a four-star one when there is insufficient staff to even attend to the reception.
