Hotel-Gasthof Unterwirt in Saalbach

We've booked this place very last minute on the morning of 31.12., and they were very accommodating, luckily there was a free room for us, which we've booked over the phone, as we wanted to experience the New Years celebration in this resort. The location of this hotel is amazing, as one of the main gondolas for the whole ski area Schattberg X-press is literally behind the hotel ( less than 1 min walk ). We had a double bedroom facing the high street with 2 windows. The bed was very comfy, everything was clean. The hotel provides a sauna, steam room/wet sauna, chilling room, infra red light room and sunbed for free. There's a large ski room where you can store your skis with a heated boots rack for your ski boots, also free of charge. You can also lock your skis with your own padlock and there's also CCTV. There's a good selection of hot & cold products for breakfast. Parking is also free of charge either in the front of the building or at the back. The price to stay over the New Year period was maybe a little bit higher but it was definitely worth it. We would normally go to different ski resort each year but we will definitely come back to the skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm again ! Plenty of decent skiing, the infrastructure of the ski gondolas / lifts is amazing, there's also a free bus in between the villages. Saalbach is a beautiful ski village with plenty of shops, bars, restaurants and nightlife if you like apres-ski. The New Years party at Goasstal bar in Hinterglemm was a blast !

The best possible location just next by lift station, with very good and spacy rooms. Breakfast is also very good. We will come again.

Stayed a few days during a quiet summer week. Very nice and newly renovated rooms. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Host Filip was really lovely and helped me a lot. Friendly staff. For me the best option in Saalbach, looking forward to my next visit. Modern rooms, very good location in the middle of the town. Very good bosnian cuisine in the hotel restaurant.

First time in Saalbach and we were very happy with this place. The location, next to the gondola, is perfect. It looks like most of the other reviews are quite dated and do not represent the current state much. Our rooms were big enough and did not give an 80s vibe at all, was definitely modernised recently. Food was ok, for the breakfast we had everything we needed for a long skiing day, in the evening we were mostly eating outside.

Lovley stay at this hotell, our room was avlångt like a stundentkorridor but it filled its purpose. We had dinner every evening and it was somthing i will remeber the rest of my life, So good! /Ulf L.

We did a week of downhill skiing i Saalbach and stayed at Unterwirt. The room (2+1 person) had all that was needed for a skivacation. Frankly a bit better than we expected. Balcony, two bathrooms, 1 with shower and 1 with toilet wich saved us some time in the mornings. A mirror in the room or in the extra "toiletbathroom" would be nive though. Wifi worked and a lot of tv channels. There were a lot of non smoking signs but despite that the corridors smelled awful. Luckily the room smelled good. Breakfast had what can be expected before a day in the slopes. Dinner was exciting since the half-pension meant four dishes where the main dish could be chosen from two alternatives. Tasty and fun to try ao.e Austrian specialties. Beverages ok but a bit too pricy. Staff was nice and friendly and made our stay a memorible holiday. In addition (or actually most important) the lift and slope-system in Saalbach is fantastic.
