Gasthof Hotel Doktorwirt in Salzburg

Lovely hotel with beautiful Mountain View’s and walks. Quiet location with frequent buses to get into Saltzburg taking 15 minutes. Nice Austrian restaurant at the bottom of the road.

What a beautiful property and truly lovely family running this hotel. We only stayed for three days in Salzburg but this was an excellent base for our short visit being close to the centre and the mountains. The family history is very interesting and quite remarkable. Great choice for breakfast, staff attentive and friendly. Indoor pool lovely for a short dip and although we didn't use it, a well equipped gym. All in all an excellent choice. We may well visit again.

This is a really lovely guesthouse. A very warm welcome, a lovely comfortable room with good shower room. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the pretty gardens and outdoor pool. Unfortunately for us it rained very hard for our entire stay so we didn’t get to enjoy the balcony as we should have, but it would certainly have been a real bonus in normal weather. Delicious breakfast and well situated for the bus into Salzburg. A bar, but no evening dinner available. A couple of restaurants within walking distance…..we went to one recommended which was close by (5 minute walk), very good local food…….I can’t remember the name, you’d have to ask, but I do remember you need to pay cash (which was quite the norm at a lot of places in Salzburg, and in Berchtesgaden (where we visited next)). If we return to Salzburg, I would definitely stay here again.

This is our second visit and again we have had an Absolutely faultless stay . - outstanding hospitality; extremely friendly staff- will book to come back. Our room was immaculate. And the indoor and outdoor pool were brilliant. The hosts were on hand the whole time.

We have just got home from our first family holiday here. Had to review it before i forgot, because what an absolutely amazing place & deserves all the praise it gets. The whole outdoor area is amazing, unique and probably would be very relaxing if it wasn't for our crazy toddler running round everywhere. It was such a lovely space for our toddler to explore and we managed to tire him out before bed every night ! The family & staff are all amazing, very welcoming and helpful, and we loved all the home grown products. The food is delicious. Melon soup , wow , perfect for the warm days! I will be making this at home! Good local walks, beautiful streams for paddling, enchanting woods and strawberry picking fields within a 10 minute walk. We had a fabulous stay and will hopefully be back as our little boy grows into an adventurer !

A wonderful hotel in the middle of the countryside, but at the same time in the city of Salzburg! We really enjoyed the beautiful garden and therefore the green natural oasis in Salzburg and felt very comfortable again. The room had a wonderful view of the beautiful garden. The kitchen is absolutely excellent and to the highest standards. We especially like the fact that almost everything here is made from scratch and that the emphasis is on regionality. You know what you're getting. We can warmly recommend the house and owners at any time. Many thanks to the entire Schnoll family and to the very pleasant and attentive staff.

A very beautiful, clean, quiet house with warm facilities. The freshness and quality of the product is on the plate. The quiet location at the foot of the Gaisberg Mountain invites you to linger. There is everything here that makes your holiday enjoyable. We will be happy to return.

If you want the actual Salzburg experience of living in a quaint little town, this is it. It's owned by a wonderful family, and has the best views of the snowcapped mountains. The river's a ten minute walk away; you can cycle there as well, by a bike provided to you by the Gasthof. It's a billion times better than staying at a Sheraton or a Holiday Inn (trust me, I've seen both). The rooms are good, the bathrooms are great, but I would recommend getting a room with a balcony. The food was amazing, and there's great little restaurants around it if you want to step out. The town center's a 10 minute car ride away.
It's honestly like you've pictured what Austria is in your head.

Idyllic Hospitality 

I was very fortunate they had a free apartment and I could stay as their guest at Doktorwirt. The location is no more than an easy 2-3 minute walk to bus number 7, going to the centre (easily change one time to bus 3, 5, or 6 straight to the charming centre of Salzburg).  

However you don't have to travel to the centre of idyllic Salzburg to experience the best hospitality Austria has to offer. 

Imagine how you would be treated as a VIP (very important person), yet part of the family. Imagine being greeted with the assurance that no matter what your requirements, the hosts at Hotel Gasthof Doktorwirt and their adjacent apartments are ready and very happy to help you, whilst at the same time easy going and leaving you free to choose your own interirary. 

Also there is an opportunity to travel by bicycle on perfectly safe and beautiful cycling ways all the way across the German border into the mountains and back again easily in a day. If you are tired and want a break from cycling, simply take the train. Or enjoy a swim in the hotel's pool. 

The sights in Salzburg must be seen in one's lifetime - and this is the perfect place to stay. The family is a joy and very extremely pleasant. 

They really are simply marvellous and I look forward to returning many times.
