Pension Ballwein in Salzburg

My favorite stay. Staff speaks very little English, as a note, but this was no issue as their hospitality was INCREDIBLE. I felt so welcome here and the room was very nice.

It was excellent! Super rooms and delicious Breakfast and totally love the host. With the Bus 21 is also only 15 min to downtown! To recommend very ?

While in Bavaria, I specifically requested to stay in places that vibe Bavaria. this place lived up to expectations.

First off, it's in an old farm house that the owners have converted. It's very cozy, and still remains highly authentic. This adds to a lot of its charm. The second thing that makes this place so great is the location. You wouldn't know it's only a 7-10 minute drive (or 15 minute bus ride) to downtown Salzburg...it feels like it's in the middle of farm country (which it is). There's lush meadows, farm tractors, and of course mountains all around you in this quiet stay.

The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. The staff doesn't speak much English, but it doesn't matter...the message gets across clearly because they are very patient and friendly.

Breakfast is included in your stay, and has the usual Austrian/German fixing (breads, cereals, etc).

One fantastic feature is that the bus stop for a bus that goes to/from downtown Salzburg is right in front of the lodging. We used this the entire time, keeping our car parked at the lodging. You can take bus #22 in and out of downtown in about 15 minutes each way. From the main stop in downtown you can go anywhere on the amazing bus system the city runs. I recommend the SVV app (Salzburg Verher) if you want a really easy way to learn and use the bus system!

This place made our time in Salzburg so enjoyable. We got to enjoy the peaceful Austrian country side at night and in the morning, then easily commute to Salzburg for exploring. The staff was incredible, and I found the price we paid to be highly reasonable for such a clean, comfortable, and unique stay.

Tip #1: Check in to Haus Ballwein can be confusing. Once you find 69a, park the car and walk to the *actual house* 69a. There is no "front office," just a house. You'll probably see some ducks in the grass (real ones!) If you see them, you're heading to the right house. Just ring the door bell at the door around back and someone will help you.

Tip #1b: There's two lodgings here...Haus Ballwein and Pension Ballwein. They are different places with different owners.

It was a nice Austrian traditional style pension. Room was big and comfortable. The bus stop was located just outside the property. Bus ride was around 15mins or so and passes by the local shops and houses.

Breakfast was very homey with fresh fruits, eggs, cereal and pastries etc. The surrounding location was wonderful if one is interested in the local scene. Overall, I ll probably go back again if I were to return to Salzburg.

Had a great stay at Pension Ballwein. The staff are so friendly and hospitable. The rooms were very large and comfortable. Nice breakfast in the morning. Bus stop right in front which is convenient.

Price, friendly, clean, beautiful property

We loved our stay here! Simon & Daniella were wonderful hosts. The inn is very clean and comfortable, breakfasts are pleasant, parking is right in front of the house. We enjoyed being out away from town, but only a 15 minute bus ride away...which stops right in front of the pension...and is free with your stay.

A lovely quiet place to stay out of town, super hosts excellent breakfast , tidy room with all facilities and ground floor external sitting area.Buses into Salzburg stop outside the property ,nearest local eating place 2 bus stops and a walk of about 10 mins.

Simon and Daniela are amazing. This place is a paradise with amazing views of the mountains, the castle and wildlife. They take the time and pride in providing an excellent guest experience. I will recommend this place to anyone that wants peace and quiet but close to the city. I am sure I'm going to miss their smiles, and the amazing breakfast.
