Khazar Guest House in Old City in Baku

The guesthouse is simply great. We found it comfortable, cosy, perfectly located, clean, all facilities available.. Even though the bathroom and kitchen are shared, they are clean, hot water runs all the time.
The owner is a very hearty person who even took us for a walk around the old town, explain us architecture, history, traditions, took us for dinner... (he didn't expect us to pay for his time and guided tour, he even paid our bottle of wine and we all shared dinner bill with him). It feels like being his guest indeed.
But being somebody's guest isn't always the feeling you wish while travelling. We wanted to spend our time by our own and when we wanted. The owner kept questioning our decisions and way of enjoying the city. As he was always present at the entrance door, we started to feel over-monitored. He even checked us in our room in the afternoon if we are still sleeping (for no specific reason), saying we should be enjoying the beautiful weather outside. Too much care is too much. Maybe it was because we were two girls and he felt responsible for our satisfaction, which is lovely. But we didn't ask for it. It is like a gift you really didn't ask for.. Can be just our personal opinion, but wanted to warn possible female guests travelling without male company. Not for security reason, just the feeling of being over-controled.

Owner is quite good person and nice human being. I definitely will prefer in future to stay here.
