DON'T BOOK THIS HOTEL - HIDDEN TERMS! We made a $5000 non refundable booking at this hotel during Carnival and were informed only at check-in of a 200 real 'unregistered guest' fee if you wanted any friend / person to visit your room (not stay overnight!) even for 5 minutes. We have lots of friends in Rio who wanted to use our room as a place to get showered post beach. Have never come across such a rule in any hotel in the world at any time. Management were totally inflexible

Overall Hotel Vermont is located at a very good location. It is right smack in Ipanema with a lot of convenience stores and restaurants around and about a 5 min walk to the beach. They have the bare necessities of a hotel, and even provide you with a card for a beach towel. The hotel has 2 blocks and I stayed at the one at the back. The rooms and facilities are a bit dated but other than that the staff are friendly and helpful and the location is great.

I was warmly welcomed at the reception, which set a good tone for the stay. The room was a bit dated and very noisy, but personally, it didn’t bother me. The hotel is very well located, which is definitely a plus. Breakfast was decent, nothing exceptional, but it did the job. One downside is that there was no complimentary bottle of water in the room, which feels like a small detail that would have been appreciated, especially considering the price.

Unfortunately, my room wasn’t cleaned during my stay, even though I had placed the sign on the door requesting housekeeping. It’s a detail that shouldn’t be overlooked and left a bit of a negative impression.

Front-desk (Eliabe) and porter (Rafael/ crew) services were above expectations. Clean rooms, good-sized bath (not-so-white towels), closet with drawers & safe, big-screen tv with many channels (1/2 English). Free breakfast buffet had many choices: bread, cereal, juices, milk (no 2%-fat milk), meat, fruits and coffee. It's near various baked-goods, coffee, fashion shops and restaurants (low, mid & high-end). Spettacolo Grill is highly recommended for a mid-priced lunch/dinner + beer/wine. Avoid Bossa Nova Bar (expensive, not-so-good entrees; waiter apt to steer you to high-priced options). Baked Paderia is a post-dining stop for coffee/tea & pastry (their flan/pudding is light & delicious). Ipanema Beach is two walkable blocks away.

Great location, blocks from the beach, near this cute little park (pictured) that hosts live markets with food and activities for children. Clean accommodations and friendly staff. I've stayed here three times now and always have a great experience!

I returned to this exceptional hotel for a second visit, and it was truly worth it.
Everything is top-notch (safety, location, neighborhood, breakfast, understanding staff, services, and facilities).

The staff are very helpful, the breakfast is excellent. I only found the bathroom and shower very small in the room I stayed in.

This Restaurant was a real surprise. We ordered a dish for 2 persons with different kinds of meat on it. Sizzling plate with nice chunks of meat on it. The service of the staff was good and efficient. they helped us selecting the meal... They tried their very best to communicate in English. Pricing was average... but money worth spent. My collegue had a real nice steak. Look nice and according to his munching, was very tasty as well.

Always crouded, full of locals and tourists. Take the picanha, they serve it rare and sliced on a piping hot skillet so you can grill the slices to your liking. Waiters are very friendly. Portions are big and food is of good quality. Only down point I can think of is that your clothes will smell like grilled meat from all the people who order the picanha. But that is part of it. Recommended, 5 stars!

The restaurant food was absolutely wonderful. It was amongst the best lunches we had in our whole Rio stay. I would highly recommend this place and it has a really good atmosphere from the song inspiration.
