Great architecture, very old and scenic views, but had a few disappointing moments during my special wedding day there. Friends' and guests' property was stolen. Not very safe, please lock your doors.

If you’re a guest at villa Romonea don’t assume your property will be properly guarded, or that the owners/management of the property will take responsibility for their staff’s oversight. I stayed at the villa over the weekend for a wedding and one of our group had his moto stolen from the property as the guard stood by and watched, without so much as alerting us to the theft in progress, much less attempting to stop it.
The owner/manager of the villa could have engendered a lot of goodwill if he had taken responsibility for his guards clear failure to do their job. Instead a beautiful wedding weekend ended with hours of negotiating with police, while a bus full of long distance travelers with a tight itinerary to keep up was held up. While the venue was beautiful, the general attitude of the property owner soured our entire experience. He was constantly berating staff within our earshot, tried to put a stop to the bride and grooms pre-planned karaoke portion of the reception, which upset them greatly and dampened the mood of what had previously been a joyous evening, and finally took zero responsibility for the theft that happened on his property in front of his guard.
I would caution against choosing this venue for any occasion.

I went to a wedding here and a fellow guest’s rented motorbike was stolen by two men as the security guard watched. Two men came in and pushed the locked bike up the hill, and the security guard told us after, claiming he assumed the men were part of our group. Neither the guard nor the villa owner took responsibility, and the renter had to pay for the stolen bike. It was clear someone was profiting off of this scheme.
