Gaoya Holiday Hotel (Guangzhou Panyu Chimelong Dashi Metro Station Branch) in Guangzhou

When we first got in, we pulled back the sheets and found a hair that didn't look like head hair. We called the front desk, and they offered to move us to another room. However, after seeing the other room, it wasn't much different from the first one. So, we asked them to change the sheets, but they told us to do it ourselves. After we changed them, we went out for dinner. Later that night, we came back and found a cockroach on the bed. We called the front desk again, and they asked why we didn't report it earlier. How could we report it earlier? We saw it and immediately called them, but they still thought we hadn't reported it in time. They said they couldn't resolve it because the owner was asleep and there were no other rooms available, so we'd have to call the owner tomorrow. We then said we wanted to check out and get a refund for that night, but the front desk said they couldn't process a refund and we'd have to discuss it with the owner... By the next afternoon, no solution had been provided.

The hairdryer was old and outdated. There was a significant amount of dust under the TV cabinet, the entire room was noticeably dusty, and yellow water stains marred the ceiling. We had booked two rooms for two nights, and one of them clearly smelled of smoke. On our second day, after leaving early and returning in the evening, we found that neither room had been cleaned. There was also no fresh water, clean towels, or basic toiletries provided. When we inquired at the front desk, they explained that due to a prior guest complaint about cleaning, housekeeping services now needed to be requested in advance. This explanation was unconvincing. Moreover, this policy was never mentioned to us during check-in. This is completely unreasonable, and the service was extremely poor; basic amenities and expected services were not provided.
