Stratos ArtDeco House in Kalavasos

Another stellar, well deserved, review. My husband and I spent a week in this lovely boutique establishment in this beloved village, which we have visited many times in the past. We never managed to book at Stratos' and this time we booked the Makrinari suite. It occupies the major part of the ground floor and the vast majority of its windows face the covered courtyard. It comprises of a bedroom (king) on the left of the entrance a large double bed to the right of the entrance, a kitchen after that, with fridge and freezer , two electric hobs, a toaster oven, kettle, nespresso coffee machine, a bread toaster and all crockery, cutlery, pots, plates and cups needed. After the kitchen there is one bathroom with shower. Notice the location of the toilette and the second bed if you have privacy issues. Few shallow steps around the unit (one in the entrance, one to the bedroom, two to the kitchen and one to the bathroom). The unit is furnished and decorated with lots of lovely quirky objects, some of which have been in the family for many years. Everything is sparkling clean and sheets and shampoo/shower foam are high quality. The house is very quiet and we slept exceptionally well. When we arrived, cake, wine and fresh fruits were waiting in the fridge. Coffee tea and sugar are replenished without asking. If some inklings could be found in the accomodation about the singular generosity and readiness to share of the owners, nothing could have prepared us to the exceptional hospitality displayed in the lavish, lovingly made breakfast, more alike to a healthy lunch, with different, fresh offerings every day. The breakfast is taken on the upper terrace, reached by outer stairs, full of flowers - a corner of paradise. We missed Giorgio, in Greece with the children, but were very honored to have made the acquaintance of Elena - hostess extraordinaire - who managed to make everybody feel happy, relaxed and at home, working very hard at doing so, and of Lady Panagiota, her lovely, warm, welcoming mother. The week flew by and we left refreshed and relaxed, wishing we'd be back already. Super recommended.

This has been my favourite place in Cyprus. The property and rooms are beautiful. We genuinely felt like we'd been welcomed into someone's home. The hosts are just fabulous.

The rooms and courtyard are well presented and give you a real Mediterranean homely feel.

We added breakfast to our stay and wow! Three different courses over 2 days - it was so tasty!

The village is also beautiful with tasty food and friendly taverns.

Highly recommend this place for a great getaway.

Have just come back from 2 nights at Stratos and wow we were so pleased with our stay. Our hosts were a lovely couple friendly and helpful offering advice on places to go and tavernas for dinner. The property is so unique and quirky, immaculately clean and well cared for. The property is entered through a wooden door from a narrow street which leads into a beautiful courtyard with tables and chairs and a jacuzzi. On arrival we were immediately offered a very welcome cool drink of home made lemonade, it was delicious. We were in a junior suite which was on the ground floor, this comprised of a kitchen with full facilities, a large bedroom with 2 chairs and a bathroom at the rear. The room was very tastefully decorated with lots of memorabilia collected over the years. The bed was comfortable and we were so happy we chose to stay here. On the upper floor there was a gorgeous terrace where we sat to eat breakfast, we loved it. The village of Kalavasos is beautiful, very narrow streets and parking in designated car parks. The village square is lively and busy in the evenings with 2 tavernas within 5 minutes walk of the house, we sampled both and happy to recommend either. We also drove to Zygi in the daytime and sat in the cafe by the harbour which was an idyllic spot. We will definitely return as we had such a wonderful short break and know that anyone choosing Stratos Art Deco House will not be disappointed.

We spend one week, with our 3 teen kids, at beautiful Stratos art deco house.Our hosts Georgio and Elena are the most friendly people with many great tips about the island.
They made us delicious and big breakfast every morning, with traditional food from Cyprus.
The house is very clean,they made our rooms every day.It is traditional house with lots of interesting details.You Will feel like home.
Its better than 5 stars hotel!!!

A lovely little hotel with four rooms, each of them has a unique character and style. Caring owner doing her best to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Peaceful village of Kalavasos with two traditional tavernas and a lot of cat friends, not that far from White Stones Beach, Aphrodite's Rock or e.g. Nicosia. Exceptional and definitely worth it. Thank you for making our stay so amazing :)

We have just been here. Not only the room was super clean and lovingly decorated as the rest of the 300 year old house but it is managed by the sweetest of hosts who is very helpful and friendly. Will definitely come here when we return to Cyprus.

First time in my life I am experiencing such an extraordinary stay in this country house for resting a couple of days! Everything here is exceptional! From the most amazing owners to the unbelievably cozy atmosphere… everything in detail! I am amazed of all the small things the owners thought of so as to make our stay here more convenient and enjoyable! Giorgos & Elena welcomed us with fresh homemade lemonade and freshly homemade chocolate pie! The room exceeded my expectations with the cleanliness, the comfortable and the amenities (shower gel, shampoo, balsam, cotton pads, hand soap, even soap to wash your clothes, an espresso machine, Nescafé, tea, water, wine, chocolates, nuts, two delicious sandwiches for breakfast, towels which to my surprise they change every day!) and many more which now I am missing to refer! The couple/owners made the most of everything to keep us satisfied! They offered us towels for the beach, sunscreen because I forgot mine, fresh milk because I told them that I drink my coffee with fresh milk… in general they did more than I could ever imagine to make our short stay unforgettable! On top of that, the cozy yard has a jacuzzi at which we had a splendid time! The 2nd afternoon, they prepared for us homemade cheese-pies and a delicious dessert! Whatever I say is very poor to that small paradise hidden in a small village like kalavasos! Surely we will be coming back again and again! I sincerely thank George & Elena for giving us such a caring and loving stay at their country house! Do not miss to visit this one! Totally worth it!

Just great to get away from the crowds and standard hotel offering. Very well looked after and clean. Personalised service and the owners really do go the extra mile to ensure you are well looked after. They even do your ironing for you!!
What I loved the most is that the property has been in the family for many generations!! I would recommend Stratos Art Deco House to anyone who is tired of staying in resorts and hotels and would like to experience as local a holiday as possible.

Beautiful house and staff are so friendly. Kalavassos is a beautiful village in the Cypriot mountains. Lovely and peaceful but not far from Limassol or Larnaca. Beach is close. Thoroughly recommended
