Best Western Hotel Du Roy D'aragon in Bonifacio

Disgusting "customer service" from the older woman receptionist & staff at the cafe. The hotel gave us a free parking ticket voucher- after checking out trying to leave the parking without the card working and having to pay 50e on top off the 500e/2nights. When talking to the receptionist about the problem- she has zero people skills and accuses us of lying about the situation. Train your people better please, rudeness in hospitality of this level is unacceptable and ruins an ecperience of otherwise a great hotel.

First visit to Bonifacio - the staff was generally very friendly and provided recommendations for getting around. The bar also gave us free coffee which was nice of them.

However… it is a complete ripoff at over €220 per night (we stayed for three nights). The room we stayed in (room 7) was dingy and lacked any sense of comfort. The window opened to an enclosed cemented wall making the room feel even more claustrophobic and dull. For the price charged, the room was incredibly sad and underwhelming. I’ve stayed in much better rooms at a fraction of the cost, with at least some basic amenities to make the stay more pleasant.

Speaking of amenities, there were almost none. The toiletries consisted of a shampoo/shower gel in one, with a couple of towels – that’s it. There was a water bottle on the table, but it was empty, so I assume guests are expected to fill it themselves, which seemed odd for a hotel at this price point. This is definitely not a three star hotel.

Strangely, the room also had a small kitchenette with a stovetop and fridge, but no cookware or utensils, so I couldn’t figure out the point of it. It felt like an afterthought that wasn’t properly equipped for actual use.

The hotel lobby had an unpleasant smell, which didn’t help with the overall experience. Ultimately, if they charged half of what they are asking, the room might be acceptable. But for the current price, it’s just not worth it. I won’t be staying here again and can’t recommend it. They might argue that the high price reflects the cost of staying in Bonifacio, but I would point out that there are plenty of better hotels and Airbnbs available at lower rates. I chose this hotel for the reliability of a well-known chain, but in this case, the experience fell far short of that expectation.
