Hôtel Castell'Verde in Porto-Vecchio

If I could give this hotel -5 stars I would…terrible staff who are incompetent and even rude. They party all night in their cabins and drink until 3 in the morning playing loud music and are completely unprofessional with no care that they are disturbing the guests. Then they are lazy and don’t help with anything at the front desk all day. The value is terrible and you will be way overpaying for a camping situation with small bathrooms and decrepit rooms that are basically falling apart. Not to mention you will for sure have unwanted visitors - ants, mosquitoes, spiders, cockroaches, moths, beetles…just to name a few. The hotel is run down and out of date and I advise to AVOID AT ALL COSTS! There are So many nicer hotels in Corsica - don’t waste your time or your vacation here.

This place is "industrially" managed based on size and therefore loses out on charm:

Late check out by a few minutes is punished with €20 per hour

Service is not tailored to the guests' need, rather centrally managed and certainly not as stated on the website, overall no good value for money:

- Swimming pool was closed for reparation during our entire stay of 4 days (consequently the second pool being completely overcroweded and impossible to use for relaxation)

- Sidewalks inside the resort
were not cleaned and polluted with rubbish lying around

- There is nowhere to hang wet swimming clothes or freshly washed laundry - a basic requirement of a beach hotel. Bear this in mind when travelling longer periods with a baby or small children and needing to wash dirty clothes. When asking the reception, it was advised to use the tumble driers instead. Strange solution for laundry drying as a beach resort with average temperatures of +30°C.

- A minor one but still worth mentioning: No option to deposit keys at the reception during absences (it is no card like in most sites nowadays but an old-fashioned door key with a big & heavy key chain). The reason itself exemplifies the lack of trust represented by the hotel staff: There is a risk that unwanted personnel may enter the room..

On the good side:

Great location close to the beach, great view of the lagoon, despite the bumpy & narrow car ride in 10 min distance from the resort there is a very good restaurant with sea view on the lagoon called Moby Dick (for half-board bookings with the hotel)

We arrived at the hotel at 2:15 pm and our room was not ready, they said come back at 3:00 pm.
After driving for over 4 hours to get to the hotel we were upset and pissed for their poor administration that the room could only be ready at the check in time. We have traveled over 45 countries in the past 50 years we have never ever waited for check in time, always by noon rooms were ready….bad administration!
Secondly they advertised for a pizza restaurant which was not operative anymore, not other place was available if you wanted a snack or something to eat when you arrived or even for your stay.
Thirdly there was no television available in the room or in the whole complex, they purported that a storm had knocked out the system, really? For all 5 days of our stay.
It seems sad the we have sent humans to the moon over 50 years ago and they could not manage in this day and time to fix the problem.

Beg bug infestation!! in hotel, which the hotel did not admit despite showing them the bug and the bites on me. They changed my bed sheets every day to hide the blood marks. Avoid!!
