Reviews
There was a hole under the carpet in my room, the bedside light was broken & the fixtures looked so old you worried they'd cause a fire. The bathroom had just a hand hold shower & the bath was cracked & the grouting years old. The room was desperately hot at night, although the beds were OK. If you left the windows open you couldn't sleep for the racket all night outside and if you shut them you woke up boiling, despite the thoughtfully provided fan.
Some of the staff members were not so friendly or at all welcoming, while others were as you would hope them to be.
Breakfast was surprisingly good and the dining room the best room they have in the whole hotel.
I booked this hotel because it had a garage but it was 4 mins' walk away, difficult to find and barely fit for purpose. I wish I just parked on the road!
Overall, a miserable experience.
* Staff are just ok.
* Hotel smells, specially on corridor and room.
* Shower Shockingly weird only one way to find out, you have to stay in the hotel. The most worst shower i ever seen.
* Television no English channels.
* Whole hotel need a update.
* Carpet is completely out of date, don't know how health and safety officers let the allowed.
* Quite noisy place.
Impeccably clean.
The offer included breakfast (generous and available from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.), and a state-of-the-art coffee machine and juice machine!
The hotel staff are very, very kind and helpful, quite accommodating, and provide excellent service (we arrived late around midnight and requested a balcony or smoking area at the last minute, and they found us a room right away, with a great view).
Despite being on the roadside, we didn't hear any noise. The hotel was very quiet and the area was peaceful.
The only minor drawbacks were that everything was a bit "old," so there was no TV connected to Netflix or other services (but the TV channels were OK), an old hairdryer (but it could be a problem once in a while), carpet in the room (a bit scary because I have asthma), iron shutters that didn't close properly (but the curtains were good), poor insulation, and air conditioning that didn't work (but the temperature in the hotel and room was quite good).
The hotel still deserves 5 stars; none of these minor drawbacks interfered with our use of the room or our night; quite the opposite.
Thank you to the Helder Hotel and its staff! ❤️
in the morning you will hear birds singing
